  • A very, very common problem with Wanadoo. Take a look at this thread on ADSLguide forums for more information. Hope that helps.

I think what Helen means is, you should have cancelled the Direct Debit via your bank. If you request your bank to cancel the DD, then it is impossible for Wanadoo to continue taking funds via that DD agreement.

I had a similar problem -but with aol!!!--My bank-barclays-refunded one disputed payment and contacted aol,who finally sorted themselves out and refunded me the rest.---I had to fill a form for the bank but it was short and painless!!See if your bank can help!

I have just been through my statements and realised that Wanadoo continued taking payment from my account when I migrated away. The customer service advisor said I could only write to their postal address to seek reimbursement.

They refuse to refund me on the basis that Metronet "never notified them of my migration". After reading this thread I suspect that is a lie. I have written to Metronet for help but since I just migrated away from them last month with they were bought out by Plusnet I suspect I will get little help.

I would have cancelled the direct debit but I was changing banks at the time I changed to metronet and it has taken some time for everything finalise. DD is now cancelled, though I am not sure that matters!

Does anyone have any advice? And is there a 3rd party to whom we can complain?
