I'd recommend that the OP flies. I know that doesnt seem an attractive option but its the fastest, most practical and probably the most economical option. Whenever i have a little phobia about things i say to myself, whats the worst that can happen? well i could die...big deal ,I will die anyway so no loss. Simple logic eh?0

Did you meet a girl on the internet by any chance? It just seems strange that you are going to take a 6 day boat trip each way, for probably triple the price that a flight would cost you. Do you really need to go to the US? You can't get to another city in the US without flying really - purely because it's so cheap and the fastest and easiest mode of transport. If it's simply a holiday you want perhaps you should reconsider with a destination close to home. You haven't mentioned where in the US you want to visit? Pointless sailing to NY when you want to go to LA, or anywhere else bar NY cause you'll most likely have to fly. :eek:0

The cheap one way cruises are 'positioning' voyages. The ships are moving from doing winter Caribbean cruises to summer Med ones. If you want to use them without spending 6 months in America (= mega visa problems) you will have to fly one way anyway.0

No loss if you assume your life is meaningless.0 -
How do those prices equate to getting from the UK to the US
I was replying to pjran who asked about transatlantic crossings around the £250 mark. I'd hoped by quoting their question directly that would be clear. In their query there was no mention of direction of travel.
Come October/November there's likely to be a reasonable range of westbound crossings at comparable prices.
All of this is no use to the OP though, a repositioning cruise or two is only going to work if they want to spend six months or so in the US. But that's the nature of thread-creep :-)

Please let us know who does crossings for £250. Thanks.
Pj
Friend got NCL Jewel 11n for $385 so around £269.
and someone else got 17n on Costa for $608(£424) a bit more but longer.
There are a few others in the £250-£300 range.
Voyager from galvaston is now sold out but that is usualy under £300 and is 14n
I think we will see some price drops as well, might have to go to better cabins so will be a bit more you have to watch carefully to get the rock bottom deals.
We did a crossing in 07 for $500(£250) in a mini suite the insides were under £200
There is always the QM2 to do the other way no need to stay in the US for 6 months.
QM2 prices start at around £500
So it possible to go both ways at reasonable cost and have a holiday in the US without flying just takes a bit of planning, combine with a couple of panama cruises and you can do the west coast as well.0
