is there anything I could use apart from PCPITSTOP?

In place of pitstops registry cleaning id use ~

Download CCLEANER (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION' ~ make sure YAHOO TOOLBAR is unticked on installation)

lol its still scanning, must be more than 2 hours now

I only use pcpitstop to check what programs are running and to see if things are ok, only place I know that does it and its all in one place.

I have seen the sites that say they'll Clean the comp and clean the registry and after the scan, it says there are xxxx amount of bad things then it cleans xx amount of bad things then asks you for money to do the rest

does that read ok? lol

Well the 2 I posted will do a general 'clean' of your system
CCLEANER will also uninstall programs and stop STARTUP programs
Glary will do a whole lot more (Similar to what you were using), only id say its 'safer'
oooo ~ forgot to mention. UNTICK the ASK TOOLBAR on installation
