Changing BB provider

I'm looking to change my BB provider as Tiscali is slow and relatively expensive.
I've looked on the site for alternatives and think I know which way to go BUT what I can't work out is how long I'm likely to be without internet access.
I run a small business form home and have just got a website up and running so need to be in contact as soon as possible.
Any advice please>

If you are migrating from one ADSL provider to another then it should only be a minute or two without service. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0

You'll need your MAC from Tiscali, and give that to your new ISP - they'll usually ask are you a new account or transferring, if the latter please tell us the MAC etc....
Mostly straightforward, except Tiscali are good at giving out dodgy (read as expired or used) MAC's so be aware that you might have to go back to Tiscali!4kWp, SSE, SolarEdge P300 optimisers & SE3500 Inverter, in occasionally sunny Corby, Northants.
Now with added Sunsynk 5kw hybrid ecco inverter & 15kWh Fogstar batteries. Oh Octopus Energy too.0
