I Work In PPI Complaints Dept.

Options
First of all, can I say thank you for keeping me in a job.

Secondly, I can't believe the amount of so called intelligent people who sign credit agreements without reading them -

and thirdly, so many people havin' a laff.

You claimed on it for 12 months, how can it have been missold when you would've been so far up s**t creek without it?

Everybody who has PPI act so badly done to - you should see it how I see it, day in day out.

By the way, my employer's not a bank, it's a customer service company who happen to have a contract with a bank so we're 3rd party - got nothing to gain by sticking up for the bank. Any questions I may be able to help with, fire away!

  • To have PPI do you have to be in a fixed contract?

I read mine - it just didn't say anything! Which is precisely why the ombudsman forced the company to back down. :)

  • I think its the banks who are having a laugh! Making money out of vulnerable people. My auntie had been sold ppi 3 months before she died, and at this point she didnt know who I was. I think the original post on here is based on a very biased view, and it provides a smoke screen for whats actually going on, it sounds very much like a 'Daily Mail' type of culture.

I read mine also. It's just, having read back over old documents, I was told that I HAD to take it up if I wanted the loan. I was, in effect, told it was compulsory.

Same here, I even tried to get out of it by crossing it out on the loan application and sending it of without signing for PPI, the application was sent back to me with documentation advising that if I didn't sign I would not get the loan.

Hopefully since you work there and see this day in day out you see some of the nasty stuff company's pull to get you to take out these contracts for ppi!

I'm VERY biased - can't believe people could be so stupid - I'm not saying there weren't bad selling practises but people only see the prize of getting the money/cc/finance, that, at the time, they're more than happy to overlook it.

I've never been pressured, cajoled or bullied in to taking something I don't want and if you're trying to say I work for a newspaper - where'd you get that indication from?

Is an oridinary member of the public not entitled to their opinion of other people's stupidity/greed? Nobody complained about PPI missell when they were having £££££'s paid in to their accounts (my employer did internet loans).

I totally disagree with the OP.

If the companies were not at fault when they sold the policies in the first place, then they wouldn't have to pay anybody back.

There are clear, strict, guidelines and if they have followed them there wouldn't be a problem.

In my own bad experience with PPI, it is the "sales" people who are at fault because they try every trick in the book to make you take it out, usually because they receive incentives for the sale.

PPI is a good option for people who need it or want it, but the fact is, the PPI is an option and if you don't want it, that is that.

If you have been wrongly sold it or didn't need it and was sold it anyway, you should be able to claim it back.

It is just like saying somebody sells you car insurance, but you don't have a car. Nobody would get away with that, so it isn't any different for PPI.

I was bullied something rotten by Direct Line when I took a loan out a few years ago. Simply saying 'No' isn't an option for them.........you have to try and convince them why you don't want it.

The reason I said No is that I know damn well they would wriggle out of it if I ever claimed.

Just like the time we took out their greenflag breakdown service. Never made a claim for years and the first time we did they were very stroppy. Had to get my girlfriend to phone up in the end.
