mobile broadband help

just before xmas I looked into mobile broadband & laptop packages and bought one with O2 via another company.
Since then Ive had it replaced twice due to it being faulty and on the second time of it breaking I tried to cancel contract. they replied three days later on the final day I could have returned the item so could only offer refund of the last 2 months line rental and replacement of the modem.
Ive had it back less than a week and I hate it, I cant open my hotmail at all which O2 have said is very common but cant fix, pages dont load and its generally very very slow. Im kicking myself as im tied in for another 20 months and i dont think ll last another 20 days its so bad.
I did try returning to O2 under the 50day happiness thing but couldnt as I didnt buy from them and now im past that anyway
I did a speed check on it and got about 160 mbps upload and 70 mbps download speed. Im in good coverage area and that was on excellent signal.
sorry its all a bit rambled but does anyone know how to make it work or what I can do about my contract?
