I'm a current Sky customer, I have TV, Broadband & Phone with them and my years contract is due to end next month.
Sky's current policy for customers who wish to purchase Sky+ is if you're an existing Sky customer, you sign up for a further years contract costing £99 for the box and a further £60 for installation. Now, what I find difficult to understand is why do Sky offer £30 for installation to new customers and they charge existing customers £60?
Do Sky want to lose their customers?
I'm not paying £60 for installation when new customers get it for £30.
Does anyone have any opinions on this matter?

            I have Virgin and am thinking about it, mainly because I think the Virgin TV is awful!
I suppose the difference in price is to attract new customers in a short period of time and get 12 months out of them. What they will also be aware of is that we all cannot get a better selection of HD viewing other than on Sky, meaning their existing customers will be stuck between a rock and a hard place: either pay full price, or leave for a lesser quality service, for the sake of an extra £30...
These 'brand new customers only' offers are great for me, however not so great when I have been a loyal customer, and am asked to pay more.Profit=sanity
Turnover=vanity

            I totally agree, what happened to rewarding customer loyalty ? Been with Sky for 9yrs and for months have wanted to upgrade to Sky +, but why do I, a regular customer have to pay £99 + £30 installation fee, when a new customer can currently have it for free http://packages.sky.com/buy/?QS=true&see_mix_selection=Variety&equipment=SkyPlus .
Have to say it's made me put off purchasing it and am looking into alternatives.
Come on Sky, how about rewarding your regular customers for once !0 -

When existing customers purchase Sky+ (£99 deal), they are then signed up for a further six months.0 -
            We had sky plus but wanted hd well around the time our contract was up we cancelled the sky plus which was in my name and got hd in his name so we were treated like new customers. trickly and sneaky but it worked. Sky never said a word.0

            Sky's bean-counters have calculated that it is in their financial interest to do it that way.
Most existing customers will grumble then pay up. The few that do stay put or even leave are more than offset by new custom that the cheap price attracts.
Eden's is a good idea ! I have just signed up for Sky again after a break of some years - the paperwork asked if I was a Sky customer or if I had been within the last 12 months.
They couldn't really impose that condition on the property !0
