Cheap holiday to Barcelona

Howdo all,

My work colleague is looking to take her husband to Barcelona as his birthday present but she wants to do it cheap as possible. She's asked me for help as well so I am turning to my secret weapon....MSE:money:

(and she said anytime between April and June for about 3 nights, flying from Liverpool or Manchester)

THANKS!

Ohhh this is as woolie as a woolie sheep thats just had a blow dry and a lot of back combing, and hes got a a woolie hat on and woolie socks.

Whats cheap? cheap to me may be bleeding expensive to your mate or vice versa.

It may help if you can at least come up with a rough guide to how much and you say between apr and jun does that mean during the working week too?

Ryanair flight from Manchester to Barcelona Gerona leaving Fri 24th April returning Mon 27th April around £47.00 each with online check in, no check in luggage and paying by electron card (£8.00 booking fee by maestro I think)

  • We're off to Barcelona in March, paying about £100 for 2 return flights with BMI Baby from Manchester. Trip Advisor has lots of hints and tips and you can check out the reviews of hotels
Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!

From Girona or Reus it is a bus ride to the city centre, over an hour but less than two, so only a concern if she is going for a very short period. (I think Easyjet fly to Barcelona airport. More convenient if time is more important than money.)
With the Euro, a Big Mac meal is E6.99 over there at the moment. I booked an apartment, through lastminute.com, and cooked lots of raw prawns which doesn't usually class as money saving!

    BCN is not cheap.

For 3 days I would get the flight to BCN not one of the others too much time traveling. also cost up the cheaper flight with the bus transfr to compare properly.

Buy a T10 transport ticket, take the train into the city last stop.

and try this hotel near the train station.

the rooms should get cheaper nearer the time we paid €60 in Jan

For a good day out away from the city, Montserat is good

3 nights for two budget £350-£500 inc flights and going out.

Even if your friend can get FREE flights, as getmore4less has said, , Barcelona is not going to be cheap when they get there - neither is any other major city with the Euro.

What is her spending budget for the time they are there?

Barcelona is lovely but very expensive especially with the current exchange rate, we went last Xmas and in the touristy areas we were paying £5 a pint.

Its a lovelyn place to stay though

I didn't think it was expensive. If you were expecting London prices, even with the Euro, you would be pleasantly surprised. (However I think in years gone by Spain was properly cheap, so if you are expecting that, you will be disappointed.)

Don't drink on Las Ramblas. Prices there are ridiculous, but are quite good just two streets away. Beer was a bit expensive E2 for a half pint, but the wine was also E2 for a decent measure, coffee was E1. Dinner for two with a bottle of sparkling wine and both of us having desert, so two courses and not worrying about the expense was just under E50.

Most of the tourist atractions are Guadi buildings that you mainly want to see from the outside and the Parc Guell, so apart from the metro ticket - agree, T-10, there will not be much expense.
