B&Q kitchen

Hello everyone,
Just a quick question about B&Q kitchens.
I've been given the quote and been given the old 'this offer ends on saturday' line. So, if anyone does work for B&Q can they verify how long the sale offers will run for?! As I don't want to rush into a decision but, equally, my other half will go barmy if I miss out on the deal.
Also - does anyone have any experience of haggling with B&Q on prices . . . 15% is as much as he seems willing to knock off.
Thanks in advance for your answers!

When I asked for a quote last month they said that as long as I booked an appt before the sale end date they would honour the sale price. Were you not told this?
Saying that they then wanted a £50 deposit to give me a written quote which I refused to do.0 -
If you present B&Q with an alternative quote they are much more keen to reduce prices. We once played B&Q off against MFI and watched the price tumble. Asking straight off doesn't seem to work - they only give you what they're offering.
When we have quotes they will normally hold them for a week or so after the end date but you have to ask nicely.
What's the deal on this week please?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

thanks guys, will try playing them off against each other.
the offer is nothing special, just their normal 50% off on cabinets (even though people reckon they bump the prices by 50% in advance!!!)0 -
They bumped the prices up by 100% so they are the same price once the 50% has been taken off.
Try a local independant fitter supplier. I bet they will be able to sell you a better kitchen for the same price.0 -
I got a much better kitchen from my local fitter after first getting a B&Q quote. The fitting costs are half the charges from B&Q as well0

have looked at some local guys on the web and they are ridiculously expensive. so if anyone knows a fitter in north birmingham who can do a gloss kitchen - 6 units and 2 corner units, with nice sink and taps and posh looking laminate top for under £1900 then shout out now!
I've fortunately got someone who should be able to fit it for a decent price, thus taking away B&Q's £1000 estimate.0 -
My fitter is in N Worcs. Depending on where you are I can recommend him, he's very good. Can show you pics of our last kitchen.
We're just buying our kitchen now and I can tell you that the B&Q kitchens at the moment are outrageously expensive as they have indeed doubled the price from last year and our quote which was 5900 in November for singing and dancing with appliances and worktops became 4700 for just the units - which is stupid. Our guy also advised he can get us a small discount but we need to use the price promise to get a decent price. Dropped into Howdens who are doing quite a bit for us right now and the equivalent is 2040! B&Q advertising their price promise all over the store right now so this is what we will be using. The IT kitchens are more reasonable than Cooke & Lewis right now but with two kitchens to buy we will be buying the better Howden's range instead of the IT kitchen, but using the price promise on the Cooke & Lewis over Howdens.
Not a good time to buy from B&Q unless you are prepared to go out and find the cheaper quotes to get the kitchen you want from B&Q. Yes, worth trying Howdens if you know someone that can get you the quotebut the Cooke & Lewis has the edge over Howdens for me.

& are you REALLY happy with the plan/layout they've given you?
We had them 'plan' ours, on their in store 3D system, which when used properly, is pretty good.
But the 'designer' had no idea about balance & visual appearence of the finished kitchen & if we'd have gone with it, it'd be a right mess!!
Their price was about £3500ish & similar amount for them to fit.
Ikea was £2200ish & better/more units!!
& you can download the Ikea planner & mess about with it yourself, for free from their website. & a GENUINE 10% in Ikea, currently, I think. Plus their prices are not always fluctuating to create a 'special' deal!!

The £50 deposit is NOT for a written quote, it is for a SURVEY after you have agreed to go ahead with installation from them. If you pay the final balance after the survey has been carried out you will get your £50 back.0 -

Some stores have targets to reach, but head office won't normally allow any additional discounts to be applied after the 'sale' prices have been applied. You *might* be able to get an additional 10% if you buy through 'trade' if your local store has one, but you'll be lucky to get that at the moment as they have clamped down on discounts.
Your quotation is valid 14 days from the date of the quote (it should say this on the front page of your quotation).
B&Q will be having another sale over easter where normally an additional 15% discount is applied.
The best sales B&Q have seen for a long time were over the Xmas period with half price installation, half price units plus an additional 15% off!0
