I've just bought 2 phones from Orange via Quidco and it says the cashback won't be received until the phone has activated and orange state...
Orange have placed a security bar on your phone whilst it is in transit. To remove the bar you will need to call 0800 0790 006 and register your phone stating that your purchase was from the Orange Shop online.

eeek, as I'm goign to be sellign the phone, is there anythign I can do about this, by activating do I need to register the sim with my details?

Thanks for anything you can give me!

  • It was a while since I did it, but just phone up register it, and then phone up afterwards and tell them that you have sold the phone. Pass the details to your buyer and then get them to register it.

If that won't work, get the phones, then apply for some free sim cards (loads of links on here) then just put one of the free sims with the phone when you sell it.

I'm presuming this is all pay as your go.....

I received two A62's from the Orange Shop Online and both had a transit bar. Basically, Orange stop the IMEI of the handsets from logging onto their network. Provided they are unlocked they will work on any other network, except 3.

Registration is a two phased process. You ring them up to register the details, which activates the SIM card and then if you are lucky they remove the bar on the IMEI number as well. In my case they did the first part but I had to ring back to remind them about the IMEI bar.

Once that is done the handsets will function on the Orange network with any SIM.

Although Orange say the bar is to protect against theft during transit the real reason is that it stops you getting a cheap phone and selling or throwing away the original Orange SIM card.

    Hope this helps.

  • I rang up orange to register a new CF62 from the Orange shop, explained that I was going to use it with an existing Orange Sim card from my old phone and was going to sell the old phone with the new Sim card...the bloke said it was no problem and only had to give the Imei number to check whether the phone was blocked or not (it wasn't).

  • In my Siemens A62 I used my Orange contract phone SIMS without registering PAYG SIM.

excellent, so I need to mention that I will be selling the phone and won't be using the phone so if they could remove the bar.

Would this be enough to get the quidco cashback?
  • Orange charge on off fee 20p to unlock to any netowork PAYG mobile, just ring 450
