Please help - How cheap can we make a weekend in London

I've been given some tickets for London fashion weekend. They've come in the post this morning and are for 8th March. I need to decide today whether or not we can afford to go, because if not I'm going to give them away.
We need to find cheap travel from Hull to Londonn coach or train, obviously somewhere cheap to stay, and something cheap to do for the rest of the time we are there. I can either go on the 7th returning on the 8th, or go on the 8th returing on the 9th, if that makes a different to prices.
I've no idea if my budget will stretch to it, but if I could I would LOVE to go see Grease when there, it's something I have wanted to do for a long time.
Train seems to be out the question. The cheapest thing I've found is getting a train to Leeds (£5 each, each way) then getting a National Express coach to London (£10 each, each way).
Can anybody help?

not sure about Grease, but if you have Tesco vouchers you can get a deal for Jersey Boys or Wicked

Most West End Theatres are not open on Sundays, so this may restrict when you can go.
Look at Travelodge Saver rooms for cheap accomodation. A few cheap (£29/£32) rooms for the Sunday night. see link
Can't help with travel as I live in the South. Is driving not an option?.....0 -

Looks like it for the dates with hotels - sorry.
Tickets only then, or a dinner/ticket deal.

I wouldn't have thought you could get any travel cheaper than what you've already found - looks like a bargain! I live about an hour's train journey from London and it's around that price! Are the National Express prices 'funfares'? If so, I'd book them asap as they tend to disappear quickly.
It looks as though you could find a cheap-ish hotel for either of those nights - have a look at Late Rooms here.
If you wanted to see a show, one of the cheapest ways to do it is to go to the half price ticket booth on Leicester Square in the morning you wanted to go. They have half price tickets for lots of shows, but you have to get there early! I think their website is www.tkts.co.uk.

We have just done London on the cheap - this is how...
Train - early booking
Accommodation - Travelodge saver rooms (with child eat free breakfasts but I wouldn;t have their breakfast if paying full without free children I would go elsewhere)
Show - We managed half price from 'whats on stage' website.
Food and drink - Tesco vouchers for food - paid for drink. Also lots of 2for 1 offers available on the internet. Watch alcohol prices. May be better to have a large bottle of water to share (about £3-4) if on a tight budget.
Travel - We have Oyster cards and used tesco vouchers for a London Bus Tour.0 -
definitely make sure you get an oyster card - makes travelling round london so much cheaper. and the ticket booths in leicester square are great for last minute tickets - much cheaper. although you might need to be flexible on which show you see.0

I am inclined to disagree, there are several ticket booths around Leicester Square, that say things like "Half Price Tickets" but seem to be more like Full Price tickets plus 25%!.
There is the the TKTS Booth that stands alone at the 'bottom' of Leicester Square, that does discounted tickets but like you said you can't be too fussy about what you see......0 -
lots of theatres do day seats for about £25. usually get front row seats. but you have to queue early at 8am.0
