My OH took me away on Saturday for a surprise night away! We went to the Novotel at Edinburgh Park, I believe they have a winter deal on for £59, breakfast included, as well as use of leisure facilities. Probably worth a look - it's not in town though but right next to Edinburgh Park station - hope that helps.

i had a sneaky look round the west end travelodge as they were refurbing, and the new rooms have plasma wall mount tvs and very trendy bathrooms, so they look really cool, i would give it a try if u can secure a good rate, but take my advice re brekky at Jenners

I'd recommend holiday inn express - waterfront, stayed at christmas and it was a much better standard than travel lodge. Here's a link to buy one night get one free, although it says its valid until 31/3/09, it never is, its valid throughout the year, they just seem to change the dates after (does that make any sense?!?) Give it a go anyway, it's a bargain!

This appears to work for August 2009. If I stay 2 nights for 1 and then stay at another hotel for one night can I return for another 2 nights for 1 at the end of my 5 day stay?0 -

The travelodges are fine - Decent basic accomodation with minimal hassle booking.
I'd second what others say about the breakfasts - There are plenty other better & cheaper cafes within a few mins walk of each and don't for get the Chocolate Soup on Hunter Square for a choc-tastic breakfast!
Some of the other hotels in that area can be sniffy about booking ,especially via online agents - I've had bookings take at one price before, only to have them come back & try to gazump me to a much higher price just before I went there and be a bit slow about refunding when I told them where to stuff it! :mad:0 -
Travel Lodge central Edinburgh (the one near Chamber Street) is fine. I stayed there about a year ago and its a modern building, but when I stayed had the older style of decor (blue) Great location though as its just minutes from restaurants and only a 5 min walk to the centre.
Stayed in the Haymarket travel lodge last September, this is an old property, Victorian style town house with high ceilings and cornice, but has been modernised with a modern feel, flat screen TV, modern furniture.
This one is a bit further to walk to the centre - 5 mins, but Haymarket is good for pubs and restaurants. Parking is terrible at this site, where as the central one is near to a multi story car park.
Hope this helpsWaddle you do eh?0
