Edinburgh hotels

Hiya

Am looking for a cheapish but budget hotel/B&B in Edinburgh, preferably central as we're taking the train.
Am going around April 15th for a few days. 2 adults and 1 child.
Have looked at can get Travelodge for £35 prpn or premier Inn for £69 prpn.
Would maybe like something a bit more cosy though but not sure i can within the above price range.
Thanks for any advice

The Edinburgh West End Travelodge is nice, -it was once the Edinburgh Hilton!, in Belford Road, overlooking the water of Leith, and a pleasant 10 minute walk into city centre - stayed there in January for £19 - they are still refurbing it but had no problems, breakfast is pretty poor quality, so next time I would go to Jenners - the trad department store in Princes street where they had a fab restaurant overlooking the castle and do a cheapy brekky, also if you are taking the train, get off at Haymarket station, 10 minute walk to hotel from there - hth :)

I second that about the West End Travelodge.... stayed there for a few nights over NYE. It has been totally refurbished and was the best Travelodge i've ever stayed in. Didn't have breakfast there so can't comment on that, except that there is a big new dining area.

  • Hi, I can recommend Kildonan Lodge but it is quite a walk from the centre - £5 in a taxi though. See link http://www.kildonanlodgehotel.co.uk/

We stayed in Edinburgh Central Travelodge which was lovely... all quite new and the staff were lovely. Definitely recommended!

  • Just back from a weekend in Edinburgh..

We stayed in the Hotel Ibis which is bang in the centre of the Old town.

Booked from own internet site for £62 per room per night.
We had breakfast in nice cafe just over the road from hotel.

    Would stay there again..:T

If they're refurbing them are they doing this to what other existing Travelodges are like? I always thought they were a bit cheap and nasty??

I'd recommend holiday inn express - waterfront, stayed at christmas and it was a much better standard than travel lodge. Here's a link to buy one night get one free, although it says its valid until 31/3/09, it never is, its valid throughout the year, they just seem to change the dates after (does that make any sense?!?) Give it a go anyway, it's a bargain!
