Possibly... depends how bad...
http://hamptons.co.uk/Property/BAT070498/PDF/BAT070498.pdf is an example of a nice property that caught my eye, but the energy graph is http://hamptons.co.uk/EPCGraph.aspx?PropertyRef=BAT070498&IWantTo=Buy&price=GBP%20725,000 (starting asking price for the property £995k (July 2008), now it has been reduced to £725k).
Looks like a very nice property, but the energy graphs suggest that it has walls of paper...

Not exactly. That kind of energy efficiency rating is pretty typical of solid- walled houses. It has double glazing and (presumably) loft insulation. I think they've been a bit hard on it.0 -
Have read it to find the info on when extensions etc have been built, name of the owner, purchase price (already knew it from houseprices.co.uk anyway), and the drainage map is quite interesting.
It's a useful tool prior to doing your own surveys imho.
I don't care about the energy ratings as intend to rip out all current loft insulation and replace with new for example.
There have been a lot of advances in such areas in the time since it will have been fitted.
Same for the boiling/heating.
Energy bulbs are simple enough I don't know why they bother putting them on the HIP.0
