ordering o2 before i get my MAC code

Ive been wanting to switch to o2 for a while and topcashback have just doubled their amount to £50 for a broadband contract.

I haven't got round to asking for a MAC code from my current ISP and it takes around 7 days to process apparently.

The double cashback expires at the end of feb so i was wondering if i could order the o2 broadband before i got my mac code to get the £50 cashback or do you use the MAC code at some point in the order process?

  • you need to give )2 the mac..ask your current ISP for one..legally is should be with you within 5 days...often within an hour or so from decent ISPs

  • I changed from BT to O2 not long ago, BT gave me my MAC in about 5 minutes and that included offering me all their carppy retention deals.

You can order O2 broadband without giving a MAC for now so that you qualify for the cashback (cashback awarded on sign up not going live date) then give them the MAC when you have received it.

I beleive you have 21 days in which to complete the registration or it will be wiped from their system. It usually takes about 2 weeks to swap over.

Interesting. I've been using Quidco and their cashback went from £25 to £50 not too long ago. My cable phone won't be ported to my new BT line until the 5th of March, but if Quidco's cashback is also a temporary offer, then I might have to get the ball rolling O2 broadband too.

Any idea if topcashback's cashback applies to all of O2's packages? Quidco's only applies to the standard package. (I really wanted Premium.)

Well, it appears I can't get the ball rolling until my telephone number is recognised as a BT number by O2 :(
