Where abouts in the Policy are you getting this from? So is jewellery and camera equipment only covered in the home if you have personal possesion cover?

The section you quoted is a section that virtually every company has in their contents policy that certain items of audio visual equipment is covered for Accidental Damage within the home if you have Standard Cover. You pay extra to have accidental damage on the rest of your contents.

    see http://www.zurich.co.uk/NR/rdonlyres/EBA80539-0F95-4560-BA49-D0B225DEAB92/0/PW500377029_WEBHomesolutionsinsurance.pdf

as you have stated, Zurich do exclude porable items in there "standard" a.d section, but they also state that the exclusion applies even if the extended a.d section is selected.

Unfortunately this is becoming more common, I know MMA also have this exclusion and you must specify laptops for them to be covered for a.d

I stand corrected, the policy wording on their website http://www.zurichinsurance.co.uk/insurance/homeinsurance/contents/policywording.htm does not show the Section Numbers but the link to your the Policy you sent does and its is excluded.

Thats quite an onnerous exclusion they put in, I would have expected that from MMA but an exclusion like that from Zurich is surprising. Knowing how they have a habit of changing their minds I would not be surprised if they included cover for them again in the future when they lose customers over it.

The Policy booklet is dated 2009, was it excluded in the previous policy as well?
  • as far as I know yes, the only change that Zurich have advised us of recently is the change of registered address and name. However, I will check to see if we have any old stocks in the office tomorrow to confirm this
