  • Got our mortgage (phew) 10 year fixed over 15 years £480 a month and sorted out the solicitors!! Now just waiting - when does the SSTC go up - is that after the survey? Does anyone know. Not going to stress out too much now - if it falls through it falls through!
  • What % interest have you got on your mortgage?

Thought they would bite my hand off! I wasn't going to venture into the house buying malarky so soon but this is on at a good price. Similar houses are up for £119k to £124k - this needs doing up a bit though!

You must realise that sellers do not all follow the logic of MSE members. If they wont take your offer and you feel it is enough drop it and look elsewhere. Some sellers are frustratingfor EAs as when a decent offer is made, within the range the seller has originally said would be OK, to find the seller decided (after the offer is made) to move the goalposts.

Oh yes and the EA gets the blame, as usual, for driving up the price to get higher commission - on the higher price!

Sadly you need one of the 4 ds to get a sensibly lower price:

    Death, Divorce, Debt, Dementia.

    Everyone else can wait.

    Oh actually it's five Ds.

    (deep) Desire.
    Ok that's a DD...

Disabled -- all of a sudden?

Most desparate sales I have seen have been as a result of the husband or the wife (usually the husband) suffering a bad health problem. Stroke, heart attack, etc. Can't think of a better word other than suddenly disabled to fit in with your D theme.

Not sure about double D isn't that the size of a piece ladies wear:D

Disablement... yeah a sudden need to change home ...
LOL you could rename the Ds into other things like
    debt would be financial fluffup.
    :)

    So we've got
death, debt, divorce, dementia, disability, desire,

Is that match of the day theme tune yet?

Just an update. Finally getting the survey done on Friday! Various !!!!-ups along the way include all of the estate agency and solicitors correspondence going to the wrong address. Mortgage adviser going on holiday, papers getting mislaid:eek:

Does anyone know how long it might take to completion? We have nothing to sell and other parties are divorced and the house is empty. I thought we would be in for Easter - that looks distinctly remote to be honest. This survey has taken ages to get set up - they can't be busy.
  • Good evening all,

My fiancee and I went to view a new build house tonight and were considering offering on the premise of a 75% 25% equity share holding, where the house builder retains 25% in the house.

We were then told that if we wished to go on this scheme we would have to pay full price?

Can anyone let me know if this is correct, and usual on these schemes?

Your help is aprpeciated in advance,

    Thanks.

I cant speak for now, but when we bought our second house 10 years ago, I was heavily pregnant and managed to do offer to moving in, in exactly 3 weeks. You might just do it - good luck!
