Offer Rejected Today

A house that has been up for sale for a while for £100k was reduced to £90k two weeks ago. We have viewed and offered £85k - rejected today. We have upped the offer to £88k - can't offer any more as we only want a £60k mortgage - do not want to over extend ourselves! We are in a good position as have a 30% deposit, renting at moment and can move at the drop of a hat. Fingers crossed everyone - I will let you know if it gets accepted tomorrow.

    Hi there,

Hope they come to their senses and accept your offer;)

Seems a good offer to me considering the current times:cool:

Chin up, maybe it will be yours in the end;)

Thought they would bite my hand off! I wasn't going to venture into the house buying malarky so soon but this is on at a good price. Similar houses are up for £119k to £124k - this needs doing up a bit though!

good luck, out of interest how long has the house been on the market? i was in a similar position this time ast week, bit of back and forth and finally agreed a 420k on a 450k house.
I 'm in rented and have a large deposit, i still dont think despite all the hype that us as type of buyer is still not appreciated.

Depends on a lot of things... what have similar houses sold for in your area recently? Some EAs are suggesting that vendors lower their prices to stimulate interest at and even above the asking price...

Still an £88k offer on a £90k asking price seems good.

    Good luck :)

It's been for sale for a number of months, it's quite dated inside, it's also got the feel of a house that has been empty for a while, garden overgrown, dead flies on window ledges. The offers are going through the agent via the vendor's solicitor so not sure if it's part of an estate - would have thought they'd want to sell a.s.a.p.

Wait another year and get it for £75K.

House sold in the same close for £115k August last year - so I suppose we would be quite lucky to get it at this price! Nothing much is selling around our neck of the woods though at present.

I am tempted too but I've got two kids and live in a rented house which is damp. Would love to get settled somewhere and not have the worries of being at the landlord's mercy! Rent increased to £575 last September - a mortgage is going to cost us £483 over 15 years! It's a no brainer now for me.
