Shower............need help!

Hi All

Hoping someone can help. Darling hubby turned on the living room light and the electric blew. Changed the fuse and thought all was great until we tried to turn on the electric shower..........which wont go on.

Basically when you pull the cord to turn it on the light nothing happens. The light on the switch doesnt go on and there is no power. We think (hope) that is it the fuse but we're not too sure where the fuse actually is.

Is it in the wee box where the switch is?

Can anyone help?

Have you checked the consumer unit / fuse box as the shower should have its own circuit?

Thank you for your speedy reply. Ok am as clueless as my hubby at all this. Is that the box under the stairs? Its lots of wee drawer things and they are labeled things like. Upstairs ring, downstairs ring??

If its old it will most likely be a fuse box, if its newer then it will probably be a consumer unit with MCBs in it. these can be reset if they have tripped, fuses need to have the wire replaced with new stuff of the correct rating. A comsumer unit looks like this:

    consumer unit

If thats what you have then check for one labelled shower and see if the switch is down. If so then push back up (so it matches the others) to reset it.

haven't managed to find a suitable picutre of a old fuse box yet but if you have one of those and have no clue then its probably best not to do anything with it but get someone who does to have a look. Electricity is not something to mess with.

    Edit: got one now

  • most of the time all the switches face down or up,if one of them is facing the other way then, that would be the one to switch...hth
You can't keep a good man down...

    Yes everywhere else is working.
