Just had same email. I'm almost certain it's to do with justsnipe.com
  • Looks like we have all have one thing in common. JustSnipe. Did anyone actually lose anything from this fiasco?
  • Having researched it a bit more, I believe it is to do with sniping. Nothing had been hacked, but ebay are clamping down on snipe programs. I believe people who have been affected have used Just Snipe in the last few days.

    Hmmm, i dunno (?)

I haven't heard this from anyone who uses other snipe websites.....only Justsnipe users.
I recently noticed that Justsnipe don't state what security they use.......most other snipe websites state clearly that they use McAfee security etc.

I suspect the 2 things may be unrelated though.

The strange pop-ups i think were down to this Auctiva Trojan (i do remember viewing a couple of Auctiva auctions just before getting the pop-ups).
But the attempted Ebay acct hijacks were obviously down to hackers stealing Justsnipe users Ebay information.
  • I used justsnipe yesterday (first time in weeks) where they asked me to change my justsnipe password. I got the email from eBay today, scary stuff but no harm done.

So do we stop using Just Snipe? My confidence in it has been dented somewhat!!!

I think you'd have to be very foolish to continue using it

  • I received the "MC003 A26 TKO NOTICE #UK: Restored Account" email from ebay this morning, so logged in manually to eBay rather than following any email links, and the message was in my eBay messages too. I've never used Just Snipe, but have used Goofbay's sniper quite a lot, most recently at the end of last week.
Not sure if it's related on that last snipe but my bid was placed successfully, although I still subsequently lost the auction, but whereas I received a goofbay 'outbid notice' email, I didn't receive any of the usual 'bid placed'/'you lost' emails from ebay.
I don't think I'll be using any sniper again in a hurry.

Same MC003 A26 TKO NOTICE #UK: Restored Account message: someone listing items on my ebay account. (I used Goofbay recently). Has anyone actually seen any nefarious dealings on their account. How does Ebay know it wasn't me listing them without asking me? And if they sold, wouldn't all the profit go into my account? Wouldn't that just mean someone was making me free money? They can't buy anything because they don't have my Paypal password. I don't understand! Wonder if it is Ebay trying to scare people off sniping sites with these messages...

I received this too after using a sniping site. But if it is to scare people off using them, there is no mention in the email from Ebay that it could be because of a sniping site, etc, etc?
