Not sure about good food places in Brean; however you can drive to the Catherines Inn which is a hungry horse pub - cheap food and lots of it. PM me if you want directions from Brean, only takes 5/10 mins to drive there.

Also fairly close by is Brent House which does a lovely carvery.

If you want to push the boat out you could go to Battleborough Grange which does a fairly reasonable a la carte menu. Sometime they have offers like 2 meals (2 course) for £25.

PM me the dates you are going - I will check local papers for events / vouchers etc for you.

I've got you these if you want them:

£5 off 2 meals voucher for a resturant in Clevedon (Mon - Thurs 12 noon till 7pm). Clevedon is about 15 mins down motorway from weston-s-m.

Brent House carvery voucher - either lunchtime 2 main courses for £10.50 or evening 2 main courses for £10.99. Its about 20 mins drive from Brean.

Let me know if you want them?

well our £9.50 sun holiday booking details arrived today, and we're off to brean sands in somerset (burnham on sea way).

other than weston supermare beach, i am completely new to the area, so i was hoping to pick your brains on things to do and places to see.

we'll be going mid september if that makes any difference?

    thankies

I love Brean Sands! My nan took me their for summer holidays when I was a lass (mum and dad couldn't afford holidays). We went there year after year. The walk along the Down is fantastic!

tyntesfiled is a comfortable distance away. but £9 admission per adult? ouch  has anyone been before?
Not personally but people I know have found it lovely. Worth joining the National Trust? And I believe you have to pre-book.
can anyone recommend any good pubs/food places?
There is a Best Western Hotel not far away, we've stayed there on special two night deals and the food was yummy! Not cheap if you're paying for it as a meal, but yummy, and could be quite intimate and romantic, I would think ...

Actually there are several, we went to the Webbington, but we've been to others and they were yummy too, so I think they're a generally yummy food kind of hotel. (So yummy that DS1 looked at the menu when we went to one near him at Uni, and decided he'd rather go to Burger King! You know, proper grown up food!)
    17 days to go :j
You wouldn't be excited, by any chance? :rotfl:

We went there earlier this year!

Good MSE place: The place that makes cheddar cheese in Cheddar, amazing, and free samples (OK, they're only small cubes but free nonetheless!)... and Cheddar as a whole is nice. About £3 for 4 hours parking IIRC? Try to drive out towards the top of the village (well, the end that's up hill!), nice scenic drive, just remember your map / sat nav!

Good food: Not sure how near this is to the area (we went there though), it's the Boar's Head in Aust, near the Severn View Travelodge. But as I said, not sure where abouts it is in relation to where you're going! Well worth going out of your way for the food! And nice garden to the rear.

Back to Tyntesfield, out with a friend today and she's been there. Being a numpty I forgot to ask her if it was good, but she didn't say it wasn't. Plus there is so much still to catalogue and classify, that you are likely to see people working all over the place rather than just the finished article, as it were.

She said there was one room in which a couple of people were sorting through objects, and trying to work out what some of them were! Asking the paying public if anyone could help them out with some things ...

Choose your route to Bath carefully as the A4 between Bath and Bristol is closed and there's an extensive detour in both directions ...
