  • This is why I'm upset with work. They have told me over th phone that because I've missed th last two team meetings due to illness they aren't going to give me any more work in the community until I've been to the next one. I've got three days of courses coming up so I can do them but that's it. The next team meeting isn't till April! I feel it's a bit unfair because nobody told me beforehand that this would happen if I missed two meetings in a row, and I had genuine reasons for missing them, I had a virus th first time and a cold the second time. If someone had told me before I missed them that would be different. I know I'm in a weak position because I'm bank staff and not on a contract, so they don't have to give me the work, but it seems unfair to effectively suspend me without warning me first.
I think I'm going to have to talk to my boss about how I feel about this.
Am I being silly, or does anyone else think this is a bit off?

Greenbee – I used to just say nothing personal but I don’t socialise at work and I was consistent in saying that to any invitation. Anything that says not now may be seen as a green light that he should try again later and do you really want the hassle? Mind you, I did crack and accept one and ended up marrying him so what do I know?

The problem is I do occasionally socialise in groups (mostly with my own team as I feel I should spend time with them outside the office occasionally!), but otherwise only when I feel it's necessary... And I need to concoct a reply that means I'll get the information I need! Hopefully it can all be resolved with a bit of humour...

    Greenbee phrase it like this

Would you like to meet my mate Valli.... she's been single for nearly five years now so obviously she is [strike] gagging for it[/strike] ready to meet new people :rotfl::rotfl:

    (could NOT resist!)

... which is clearly where Valli comes in  Did the questioning by the nurse trigger this response :p

Greenbee - what a difficult situation!

It was a difficult evening last night. Had a sort of argument with DS who then had an sort of argument with DiL. All over nothing really but something if you know what I mean.

One thing that came out of it is that it seems DiL is putting the heating on to dry the washing on the radiators since she's been asked not to use the TD :confused: The girl has no sense! Why she can't use the airers is beyond me!

Thanks soappie. Could you get your DiL an electric heated airer? They cost much less to run than the TD or radiators, but will get her washing dry quicker... could it be a compromise that will stop things being awkward? Hope it resolves itself soon.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I'm sure I'll come up with something before tomorrow evening :o

Hugs, positive vibes and prayers for LL. Hopefully they'll find that everything came out with the op, but its best that they're careful.

Rosepink - (((hugs))). Try not to take it personally, and take the approach that you need them to clarify all your responsibilities and their expectations of you so that you don't inadvertently get it wrong again. Try to keep the emotion out of it when you discuss it, however much you feel it personally.

embb - glad you found buttons!

Toots... all this rearranging furniture - are you avoiding something that you SHOULD be doing?! More importantly, don't overdo things physically. You weren't too go yesterday, and were moving stuff around, so take it easy please. And it sounds like you need to start using up some wool ;)

It's a VERY good thing I gave up chocolate for lent. We went and did some tasting today (I'm not going to count three buttons of coverture as breaking my fast, as it was in a good cause!) and I now have 2 kilos each of organic couverture in milk, white and dark! and I can smell it!!!

Also had my hair done (new colour - red that's almost purple, a bit like ribena, but that'll settle down when I wash it), so I look dramatically different! Bought some cake decorating bits, a couple of lacy camisoles from jigsaw (seeing as they're so useful!) and a black pencil skirt from LK Bennett. So sorted for work for a bit, although I did look longingly at the purple patent shoes in LK Bennett which would go beautifully with my new skirt & a cardigan I've already got :D .

Looked at a few things to get ideas of what to wear to the wedding, and bought my brother's wedding present, as he pointed out a picture they want of the church that they're getting married in (and the price was VERY reasonable) and I thought I'd get it there and then, as otherwise someone else might have bought it and it would be a pity for someone else to have it when it will mean so much to them.

So clearly I haven't done much flying... towels dried in TD, grocery shopping done and unpacked, DW emptied and filters cleaned, washing up done. So need to find some supper and maybe watch a trashy DVD!

Hugs and positive vibes to all who need them... sorry, I think I may have missed some of you!

If you can drop it off at my office in Leeds, I can get someone to bring it down to Windsor, and can then drop it off either with Rosepink or with a flylady who lives somewhere between me/my office and guildford!
