Bent garage door, where to claim.

Hi
Whilst working on my car this afternoon the handbrake cable snapped causing the car to roll forward down a slope and strait into my garage door, there was virtually no damage to the car but the garage door is badly bent.
Am I likely to be able to claim against my home insurance company although I did not take out the accidental damage option, if not is it going to be possible to claim on my car insurance for the garage door.
or can anyone suggest any other way of sorting it out, It looks like a new door is around £1100.
Thanks

You are not going to be able to claim on you house insurance, you need to read your car insurance policy in detail.0

which home insurer are you with?0

The car insurance does not normally cover damage to the owners home0

So it could be that I can not claim on any of them0

Because he said he doesn't have accidental damage cover, presumably for buildings.0 -
I can't find a Policy booklet on the Admiral site so cannot give an indication as to whether it is covered or not. If you had accidental damage cover then it would normally be covered, you may have some cover under your home insurance for "Impact" damage so it might be worth ringing them. If they say its not covered you can try your car insurance but they normally will not cover damage to your own home by your vehicle0

at the very least your car insurance company will want to find out why the cable snapped before they will indemnify you.0
