basically, i've got a multimedia drive that can connect to my TV via the component connectors on the back for super-swish upscaling, but the main problem is that the connector on the back of the drive is a 3.5mm jack plug.
i've been looking at some solutions and this one initially does seem to be the one i need to go for ..
basically a universal connector kit that will let me put the correct combination together.

would this work ?
or if anyone knows of any cheaper solutions, i'd obviously be most grateful .. cheers

Could you tell us which drive it is and what TV it is?0

usually the cable on these types of drives connect to the video (yellow cable) and audio left and right (white and red cable). Please have a look at the manual / internet for the model of your unit and it will give you the correct cable spec. There is usually an S-Video connection which is round but has pin inserts for the cable and this is different to a headphone socket.

Sure, it's a Iomega Screenplay 360gb multimedia drive, which is this ..
this is the back panel
I've got a Beko HDTV with the usual ports, plus the composite and component connections on the back.
a (hastily taken) picture ...
so i need the 3.5mm jack plug from the back of the screenplay to the "Y", "Pb" and "Pr" connectors on the telly .. the audio is taken care of with a seperate cable i already have.0 -
As apeebles says it should have cables with it, and according the Iomega site, you have a component cable with red, blue and green connectors and a 3.5mm jack The 3.5 mm jack goes in the bottom of the sockets of the Iomega, and
the blue connector goes in the PB socket
the red in the PR
and the green in the Y socket
You should also have another cable with white red and yellow connectors. this becomes your audio cable. and the 3.5mm jack goes in the top socket of the Iomega . You will have composite sockets on the TV. The white goes in the white socket and the red in the red socket. The Yellow is ignored0 -
Ive never seen one of those cables before. Very odd.........:idea:0

thing is, i don't have that cable though - i bought the unit second hand on ebay.
it works perfectly, but that particular cable was probably the one thing it didn't come with - but then if they're this rare, i think i probably would have done the same thing myself and kept it.0 -
would this work then ?

obviously a preferable option at £8 quid

Well it will produce a picture, but its composite video ~ NOT component
(yellow for video, red and white for audio):idea:0 -
i think i might have found "the one" - it says it's suitable for composite video connections.

AND it's only £4 quid
does it look like a better option ?
OR ..
there's the ipod option ..
