INSURANCE 'NOT TRACABLE'>CAR TAX ONLINE-Why!?

ampersand

As above, I have gone through the online form to do my Car Tax, only to be denied this service because a message says my insurance cover cannot be found.
Surely it should be? - I used the PO's £50 Cashback last year, Axa being the insurer -expiry26/2.
I won't use their 0870 no.

If your insurance expires on 26/2, then that is the problem.
You need insurance cover from the day the road tax starts (1/3).0 -
Enter your registration number into the following link, this is connected to and run by the Motor Insurance Database. This is the system that the police, insurance companies and the dvla use to confirm you have insurance in place.
If it when you put your registration number in the system it does not show your vehicle details then this means your insurance is not linked to your registration number which is why you cannot tax on line. If this is the case it means either your Insurer has the worng registration number, or they have cancelled your policy or they have made a mistake. EITHER WAY IF IT DOES NOT SHOW RING YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY ASAP TO SORT IT OUT0 -
-
As already posted, using an insurance certificate that expires before the tax disc starts is the problem - so putting it in the askmid search box won't help get the tax online!0
-
I forgot about the other obvious answer which Quentin has kindly pointed out, you need to check the dates on your certificate as well0

Thankyou all very much.
Yes, car is on database - phew!
Yes derrick - have already used this, but same result applies with automatic disconnection, even when I chose another option , hoping to get through to a real Peep.
Looks as tho' it'll have to be PO demain.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Have just tried this number myself,(obviously they are closed it being Sunday), but it went through the menu to get me to a human, then gave me the times they are open.
I did use this number myself a few weeks ago without problems!Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
derrick, may I ask which option you chose?
Also, do you mean that you DID succeed in renewal by phone?CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:
