Not a great deal unless they could find him.As has been said before so long as the debt is in his name he will be solely liable for the debt and it has nothing to do with you.

I do feel this has pretty much been pointed out, i do get a funny feeling about this, sorry but i just do.

i know of someone who did a similar thing. got 70,000 in loans, credit cards, amex etc. then told them he'd spent it all gambling and declared himself bankrupt. had actually sent it to iran and bought a property in tehran. it's now worth around 200,000. but he didn't actually need to leave the country, just did the bankrupt thing.

no way. i was brought up in an atmosphere of utter honesty and fairplay. but through marriage my eyes have been opened to a whole other world of corruption and deceit. unfortunately the culprits often seem to prosper.

I believe banks can sell a debt in one country to a bank (or other agency) in another country for them to pursue if a debtor moves away.

sounds like a good business idea.....not sure iranian banking institutions would be interested in this though. they don't even accept credit cards over there. usary.

As do most Islamic countries, anything with interest involved is not allowed.

I think the idea of cross border debt collection can only really apply to Euro countries, I remember reading a thread some time ago where someone had skipped to Oz leaving big debts, and even though they knew where he was the were powerless to pursue the debt.

Why are you so concerned about him? I wouldn't care what happened to him but unfortunately he'll probably get away with it (which is a great shame).
