OK, I've done a bit more research - there is an annual pass available which allows you entry to all of the Forestry Commission's fee paying properties for the sum of £35 per annum, or £17.50 if you're over 60 years old.
Unfortunately I don't foresee myself making sufficient visits to their properties to justify that spend. I still think that if someone wants to go in just for a half hour walk then £4.00 for car parking or £1.50 pedestrian entry is too much. They could charge for car parking at 20 minute increments, or by the hour or something, that would be a bit more justifiable.
I noticed two cars go in the entrance, then turn and drive out and away down the road again - perhaps I'm not the only one who objects to these entry fees.0 -

Its really as simple as I believe he is, going by his answer ... its not something we in N.I. would gladly pay for, there may be a few other English friends on here aswell.
And now we'll never really know ...
Cheers

What a totally stupid comment - doubt if you would appreciate a forest - do you ever get out?
No I am not English, Northern Ireland born and bred and quite happy to contribute to the upkeep of our forests by paying an admission fee if requested!0 -
