I took the online option to continue with my fixed term deposit until maturity.
Received a letter in January to confirm the fixed term account details which I duly returned.
My fixed term account matured on 10 March 2009.
I received my cheque today (21/3/09) for my fixed term deposit and interest accrued on maturity.
The FSCS payments seem to be working well from my perspective.
Hope all goes smoothly for others waiting.
  • Further to my earlier post (#10) in this thread, I have received another email reply from the FSCS today which contradicts what I was told in a previous email from FSCS about what happens next in the compensation process for fixed term account holders that have opted to receive compensation at maturity.

Previously I was told to expect a letter once my claim form had been processed. That letter would confirm that my claim had been officially accepted and that I would be getting my compensation at maturity.

However, the email today implies the opposite. It says that I won't hear again from FSCS until after maturity (which for me is October 2009 and for my wife is November 2010). That's a heck of a long time to wait to find out whether my claim has been accepted or not.

It seems to me that FSCS are giving out conflicting statements on this matter.

What have other people with fixed term accounts that they have elected to hold til maturity been told to expect by FSCS?
