Icesave - Waiting For Maturity - Heard From FSCS?

I chose to wait until maturity which wont be happening for another year.

I received a form from FSCS in early January and sent it back

However I have heard nothing back from them

Is anyone else in the same boat

  • see the old fscs threads. My dh received a cheque yesterday. 15 weeks after maturity
  • I received a letter from them confirming receipt of the completed claim form. This was about a week after they should have received it which was, like you, early January. My fixed term matures in May 2009 which could be relevant (yours has another year to go).
I think others also received confirmation. It might be worth contacting the FSCS just to make sure.
You did make a copy of the completed claim before sending it?

I waited to send my form back until a couple of weeks ago (to give them some breathing space to deal with the already-matured types). I sent it recorded delivery and received a letter from them confirming receipt (which included a reference number for further enquiries) about a week later.

In the other Icesave/maturity/FSCS threads you will get the sensation that they are still massively snowed under. I guess with the end of the tax year appraoching that will just get worse as they try and get all the ISA certificates out.

In your shoes, I would wait until May and then give them a call.

I phoned them up a couple of weeks ago about mine as I also had not heard and it was returned to them late December. They couldn't find it and said they would call me back in 48 hours. They actually did phone back and said it was now on the system but I wouldn't hear anything else until it matured.

It would seem some get confirmation of receipt in writing others don't ! So give them a call

  • I sent my form off in December and got confirmation letter several weeks later in January. I got the impression everyone is supposed to get a confirmation letter. I'ld wonder how long after maturity we'll get paid out?

We got no confirmation letter (that I can remember) after sending off the form, but the cheque arrived ok shortly after the maturity date.
  • My Icesave fixed term account does not mature until October 2009 and my wife's not until November 2010.

We each sent in a paper application form in early January and both got a letter from the FSCS at the end of January saying that our application forms had been received and would be assessed "as soon as possible". I was told by the FSCS to expect a letter once our claim forms had been processed saying that our applications had been formally accepted.

Well, it's now 7 weeks later and we have still not received such a letter saying that our claims have been assessed and accepted. I would like to know whether any other fixed term account holders with accounts maturing in the future have heard yet from the FSCS to say that their application has been formally assessed and accepted?

From earlier responses some got confirmation some didn't. I am one who didn't but when I phoned up they had to call me back to confirm that it had been received and that I would not hear further until it matured.

For your peace of mind I suggest calling and asking them

  • Thanks for your reply. I did get the acknowledgement letter saying that my application had been received and would be assessed "as soon as possible".

I emailed the FSCS at the time and they emailed me back to say that once my application had been assessed I would receive another letter stating that my application had been accepted and that the letter would also contain information about who to contact during the coming months regarding account admin (change of address, etc). The text of that email is here:

"Thank you for your e-mail of 19 January 2009. In answer to your queries, once your claim is assessed we’ll write to you confirming you’ll be receiving your compensation at the relevant maturity dates of your fixed term accounts. This letter will also include details of who you should contact in terms of the administration of your accounts before they mature."

As I haven't had such a letter yet, I am keen to see if anyone else has got one. I cannot believe that they will not let us know before maturity (which in my wife's case is over a year and a half away) whether or not our applications have been accepted.

So, if anyone with a fixed term bond that matures in the future has had an "acceptance" letter, please can you let me know on this thread. Thanks.

I would like to know how long they take to send a cheque after the maturity date. My two A/C's mature in July by which time they should be less busy and so pay quickly, do you think?
