Abbey Zero Card

Unfortunately, you're not able to load the card with money anymore, it has now been stopped. If you do this the fraud dept will put a stop on the card and you wont be able to use the card at all. Also, I was told that if you're card got stolen you wouldnt be covered for any fraudulent transaction on the card, I'm not sure if this is the case for all Credit Cards or just abbeys though.

well, I managed to speak to someone to try and resolve this but I was advised I had a query on my application and need to speak to the applications dept on Monday. All details enetered online for the application was correct although my landline number was suspended and could not receive calls for a month or so, so I am wondering if that's a reason why this has happenned. mind you, I have never had this problem ever before with any company.0

Nationwide FlexAccount does not pay credit interest, and it's notoriously difficult to get, especially just for the overseas cash. Although Santander changed T&Cs to tell customers they shouldn't have a credit balance, there may not be an immediate sanction if the overpayment is small and lasts only a day or two. Credit balances can arise innocently through refunds. I believe the main sanction is that you can't load your card to make a large purchase that exceeds your credit limit: the authorization would be blocked. It may be possible to make a small overpayment just before you go to cover the amount of an imminent cash withdrawal. It's best to keep this cash amount as low as possible and plan to pay by Zero Mastercard wherever possible. Do tell Santander/Abbey about your trip to avoid the overseas fraud blocks.Broadwoodboy wrote: »If I open a Flexaccount, it means that I can load on my spending money, gain interest on it0 -
The Nationwide account used to pay interest annually, but that now seems to have stopped, however
"When you open a FlexAccount you get access to e-Savings, e-Savings Plus and e-Bond, our high rate internet savings accounts. Plus, if you're aged 60 or over, you can take advantage of our Monthly Income 60+ savings account."
Using a Flexaccount with online banking you can instantly ship money between accounts, and pay your credit card in 1 working day.
E savings + gives 2.75% at mo, regular is 1.45%.
Can recommend all Nationwides services. If you have time ,pop into a branch with required ID and you should get the lot set up (even credit limits ) there and then.
I gave up on Abbey after a nightmare 6 months where I ended up with 3 cards and no statements for many months, and the worst customer service I have encountered ( worse than B Gas!).
15 months later I have just received an unsolicited pin "for your new Abbey card"!!! Help here we go again?ac's lovechild0 -

I would like to get an Abbey Zero as a backup when abroad but reports like yours keep putting me off getting one!0 -
I got the Zero card thinking of using it abroad whilst on Holidays.
well I got a lavish £250 credit limit, which I cant change for the next 6 months. well I used up the credit and not going to use it for the actual purpose I got it for.
anybody else has a Limit of £250? I do have other cards and have got around 20k on between 2 of them.I also applied for another card after I got the Zero( within 2 weeks) and have just been informed that I have a Credit Limit of £6500(with American Express). I'm not sure where Abbey got the figures for the Credit Limit.also not happy with the Call centre people either0 -

Tell you what. I am staying well clear of this card Zero card. I will stick with the Nationwide and try and find another card as a backup. I seem to remember the Post Office do a good one for travel. Why are companies like Abbey so poor? it must cost them lots of business.0 -
I have now set up an Nationwide flexaccount by applying online. Wife and I are both cleared for ID, and all we need to do is sign the forms and pay in £100 when the debit card arrives. Why are people saying that they are difficult to get?
Dealing with Abbey on the phone has been a nightmare, but they have compensated me for that.0 -
You may not be able to pre-load the Abbey Zero, but if like me you always travel with your laptop and stay in hotels with wireless internet, you can check and pay off the balance immediately after making a cash withdrawal, resulting in a piddling amount of interest for the few days the payment took to go through.0

Hi,
I am going to Turkey at the end of August this year.
I have applied and been accepted for an Abbey Zero card.
Should I just take the card and use it for withdrawing cash? I'll pay it off in full as soon as I get back to blighty.
Or should I take some Liras in cash too?
What do you recommend I do peeps?
Thanks for any suggestions.
Ian
