Flying somewhere for 3 nights 3rd of April

Hi,

I submitted a thread a few days aback about taking the Mrs away for the night for her birthday. We have now got sitters from friday to Monday so are looking for a long weekend.

Flights would have to be from Cardiff or Bristol. Under £100ish each and preferably to somewhere a bit warm. Any help on hotels would also be appreciated.

The furthest we would go is the canaries

Would I be better going to a travel agent to look at weekends away or do it myself (with your help).

HELP!!!!!!!!

Thanks

Barrie

  • I think I might have to go to Birmingham or Exeter at this rate, all the flight to the med are at 6 or 7 in the morning but we need to drop the kids to nursery at 7.30.

Do you want a city break or to sit in the sun? I'm not sure anywhere in europe is that warm in March? I'd also opt for Barcelona, short flight and lots to do. Amsterdam is easy for Cardiff flights and great place to visit but same climate as us, I also love Italy and Prague.
  • I did think of Barcelona but the wife fancies a bit of a sun break to chill out away from the kids.

    edit

I just had a quick nose at a barcelona tourism website. It says it has beaches. Are they busy or any good to spend a few hours on

  • I went to Barcelona in Feb so I didn't go to beach although it looked ok. Maybe also see if any of the hotels have pools?
You can't go wrong with Barcelona lots to see and do and cafes for people watching...mmm you're making me want to go back now!
  • Flights fron Bristol to barcelona girona at £51 for 2 of you with ryanair. Royal beach hotel £95 half board via travelrepuiblic in Lloret de Mar. Lots of other hotels arounbd thast price and area

Bus runs from girona airport to Lloret- buy tickets at desk at airport, about 10 euros each
  • Thankyou all so much. I'll have a look at a map of the region. To be honest my geography is rubbish so I expect I'll find a few surprises.

You could also consider flying ryanair to Malaga, the weather should be abit warmer than Barcelona and would be ideal for a beach break.
    £100 - £10,000
  • If you go to Lloret don't stay at the Royal Beach, its a bloody nightmare with noisy yobs and drunken fights going on regularly. The rooms are paper thin and you here everyone that passes by in the corridor and a vast proportion of people passing are loud, drunk and obnoxious. I was forced to stay there after a hotel change by alpha rooms at the last minute, and complained as I had a child with me and was terrified on two nights when fights broke out in the corridor outside my room. Find somewhere better and go by the reviews on trip advisor before booking any of the hotels in the region, some are better than others, the ones that offer all inclusive and half board seem to be the worst culprits. There are quieter areas near barcelona and the beach stretches all the way from LLoret to barcelona as I viewed it on the train journey there.
