  • How did you value your car?

i did online valuations with Parkers and wisebuyers, i then looked at it as a buyer and looked at what i would say about the condition to barter on the price with a seller, so look at tyres (how much life left in them), exhaust, service history (is it due a cambelt change or big expensive service), general condition, then pick which catergory of value you think its worth (excellent, good, average, poor) and then knock of any of the above expenses to get the real world value, i included the valuations and my notes on condition with my SOA and the OR was happy to let me keep it as i had valued it at £1,400 which was the poor condition value, the top value was closer to £3k but for a car to be worth top book price it has to be pretty much nigh on perfect, no stone chips, full service history, good tyres etc etc. if your not sure on the value just drop me a pm with make, model and year and what condition you think and i will see what the value is.
Life is like a game of Snakes & Ladders, i almost made it to the top but now i'm at the bottom again and its a very long ladder to the top. I had it all and now its gone

  • As others have said sky won't be allowed, i didnt show internet connection on mine i just included it with the phone and nothing said. Did you allow for prescriptions, dentist, opticians??

Sounds like you got the same woman my OH got, she was actually from a different office (swansea i think) to the office (exeter) that was dealing with OH's case and the woman had only just received a copy of my OH's SOA about 30 mins before the interview , her SOA showed a surplus of about £14 but the OR sent an IPA through for £200, we immediately contacted exeter and the caseworker there said god knows how she came up with the £200 as it shows clearly on the SOA that its nothing like that.OH hadto fill out an IPOQ and we have heard nothing since and that was May.

I listed everything on mine, including Sky, but as I was (then) on benefits, I knew that I wouldn't have an IPA.

When OH and I got back together, I took off the Sky and a few bits, upped others (such as more food, cos he eats a lot!) and put down his salary contribution - he paid for the sky. As I was not working I still didn't get an IPA.

I was a bit worried as I started looking for work in Dec 08 and was concerned about getting a job before AD and then getting an IPA. Didn't have to worry as I haven't even had a single interview. And I am getting cross! I am damn good at what I do but I do believe that they see my CV, note that I have been a SAHM for the last few years and then cannot believe the level of work I was at and what I have done/qualifications etc. Think I am going to have to dumb it down a lot.

Anyway. As usual, I have digressed. But I agree with the majority that the ORs are just plain odd!

I think regarding the mileage issue, you really need to stand firm here. I get mileage/expenses (paid by cheque) and have no intention of declaring as income, because quite simply it is not income. It is recompense for the fuel used and wear and tear on your car. I know if i didnt do so many miles for work i wouldn't need to spend as much on the car. Also i don't know about you but it can vary so much month to month how much you receive. Try not to worry so much, seems like the 'OR' was a newbie who didn't know **** from elbow.

I think the point regarding the mileage issue is if you are putting that particular bit of petrol on your SOA and you are being recompensed for it that it is like putting it down twice. Maybe you could do a breakdown of your personal mileage and the amount you do for work?

Yes. What i have done on mine is just included petrol that i would use getting to and from work, general personal use etc...if i am asked about mileage then i would have to bump that up by £50 - £100.
  • Thanks everyone for your helpful replies. I have just gone onto to parkers guide and for my car in good condition its £2200.00 so £200.00 more than what i said thank you for that link!! I hope this will be ok now....

I will question the mileage again i think as what i put on the budget is to and from work and not work mileage???

Once the Phone interview is over is that it then or do they keep contacting? do they come to your house??

Once the phone interview is over they may still do some investigation but they won't visit your home.

  • not that i have much, but i do have a computer thought they may take it. I feel sick every minute as i am an honest person I told them everything even about my injury claim from a car accident, she wasnt hundred percent sure if that was allowed and i may lose it
