One of the basic rules of the CSA is that they will not pursue an absent parent who does not live in the UK. So once you have left the country, that is it, case closed.

I had thought that the talk of taking away passports was just an idea for discussion, rather than something that actually happened now. Yes, they have considered confiscating the passports and driving licenses of people who repeatedly fail to pay the sums that they have been ordered to pay. However, an NRP who lives abroad is in a totally different situation: you would be ordered to pay nothing from the moment you left the UK, although any arrears still remain payable.

Problem is that you DO have a responsibility whether you feel it fair or not, that child is totally and utterly innocent in all this and requires financial support from BOTH parents. There is nothing from stopping you from persuing a case for contact if you don't see your son; at least show him you tried to see him rather than washed your hands of him as it was inconvenient. Difficult I appreciate, but not impossible.
  • I cant even bring myself to offer you advice on your "problem"...Im afriad im just to shocked at your selfishness.
And the fact that you can do the deed but not cope with the aftermath shows your terrible immaturity.
I wont wish you good luck-I dont think you deserve it.
    Having a coke with you
is even more fun than going to San Sebastian, Irun, Hendaye, Biarritz, Bayonne
or being sick to my stomach on the Travesera de Gracia in Barcelona
  • put yourself in your childs shoes for just a few minutes -how would you feel if one of your parents had disowned you without even knowin you? no effort to be involved, no financial help nothing. How do you know he is being cared for properly? but I guess that doesnt matter cos you dont care if hes ok just that he costs you money!!

why cant you face up to things? If you wanted help in sorting things out -csa or tryin for contact then people would be more than willing to help you deal with whatever mess your in. running away angers us cos its so cowardly and selfish and ultimately effects the only person/people that arnt to blame.

 It can be lonely on the moral high ground, can't it :D

We've all been there at times though so it's not really that lonely  .
