Motorola V3i...ANY GOOD??

Been looking at this model, since everyone seems to be doing 'deals' on it.

£200ish to buy, so not a PAYG option, but it does look an attractive fone, considering the V3 was well liked.

Had thought of D600, but still not so keen on slider style.

Any thoughts??

Thanks in advance.

  • Well I like the look of it, and will probably go for one. Friends who have the V3 don't exactly rave about battery life - and I have never liked Motorola's operating system. That said, good looking phone with good features. Like the look of CPW half price for 12 months on O2 250.

I've had one for just over a month and, for what it's worth, I think it's a very attractive phone. I like the facility to close it up which protects the keyboard and it has a VERY clear face. Operation is easy.
I'm not into the camera aspect nor the other 'bells and whistles' but it's great for me. The fact that it cost me £0.00 (via T-Mobile) helps of course!!

I for one think it's a horrendous phone - and I work for a large mobile phone company's technical support line, so I've played with it a lot. I'm not a fan of Motorola's operating system - it's so basic and unattractive - the battery life seems below par and the text display on the screen is too chunky (especially if you send/reciveve MMS and view WAP pages which I have to do often).

I would always go for a Samsung phone - they're stunning, the screen is so clear, and the features are simply amazing. I have the e720 (which is a flip phone rather than a slide), but I reccomend the D600 too. So easy to use and the sound is great, the video camera is impressive, what can I say - I must play with every phone there is and this is one of my favourites, hands down.

Whats your views on the N70?
    I have a cunning plan!

  • Motorola menu systems are horrible as is the software and the battery life on the V3i is soso just like the previous model. I sell phones for a living and the best manufacturer for handsets in terms of looks/use etc is Sony in my opinion. Can't go wrong with a K750i - best handset ever made.

V3i has style going for it - not a lot else.

P.S can't really use the mp3 ringtone functions on it as the mp3 has to be on phone memory (all 5mb of it) which means you can get 1 song on it ^^

Good solid phone in terms of features, build quality, battery, but a tad on the big side and as with all nokia symbian phones it can be a little bit sluggish. If you want a PDA phone then there are better, if you want just a normal phone I'd go for something else.

Was wanting to run tomtom mobile software on it and having a CK-7W car kit will just need to swap the cradle.

  • The cost of the tom tom software and the bits and bobs needed comes up to £200 if I remember correctly. You might be better off going with T-Mobile if thats the case. They were doing free navi kits to go with some of their pda phones last time I checked. Either that or splash out on a proper tom tom - basic model is in similar price range - hope that helps.

In my opinion all samsung and sony-ericsson phones are ugly as are most nokias.

V3i is best looking phone on the market alongside Nokia 8800.

Its only problem is that every man and his dog has a V3 in one form or other.
  • Batteries on Samsungs are hardly great!
  • I love the V3i, sexy, smart and stylish.
There are plenty of deals around now with 2GB iPods 'Free' too!!
    :T

One wonders where one can save next :rotfl:
