Switch from Virgin Media XL-TV, L-Broadband, XL-Phone Package?

Hi,
We currently have a 3 in 1 package from Virgin Media: XL tv, L broadband, XL Phone. After 6 months, the price has seemed to shoot up quite a bit. We are currently paying a total of around £57p.m, excluding call charges.
To be honest, we have not been very happy with the TV: mainly the V-Box software is as slow as a Commodore 64, and the On-demand works in fits & starts. We have complained about it, only to be told its weather conditions..EXCUSES!
We are looking at SkyTV now... What can I get from Sky for less than £45p.m? I have looked through their website, however is SUPER-BAFFLING!! Smallprint here, extra charges there, includes this, excludes that etc etc. We want TV with news and sports, and a normal net connection. We hardly use our landline phone.
Any suggestions?

If I understand correctly, you have a Virgin cable TV service. How can they blame poor reception on weather conditions? Bad weather only affects satellite reception surely? If they're gonna make excuses, they should at least come up with some credible ones.
Someone else will be able to advise you on best value Sky package, but to get Sky broadband you still need a BT landline to sign up-the BB comes via this.
If you don't need the Sky premium channels, have you considered Freesat (either from Sky or from BBC/ITV)? Lot cheaper than taking a Sky sub. package. No free lunch, and no free laptop

hi
I have virgin 3 in 1 package as well .they had been overcharging me due to a change in billing systems they say for 6 months so they credited my account with what they had overcharged me and offered me a 12 month contract at an agreed price.3 months into this agreed new contract they raised the price again ,i didnt notice for about 3 months so i rang customer services to complain and they said even if we had a contract at an agreed price in their terms and conditions say they can hike the price so i read the terms and condition and they can. what they dont tell you is that if they raise the price you have 30 days to cancel your contract with them if you wish.even if its before the minimum 12 months.worth making a note of i think0
