I think you may find that the Bank of Dad is supposed never to close :p

However, what with the credit crunch, banks have stopped lending ...

Some of you people sound very bitter  If you don't want the 'hassle' don't get involved with someone who has children!

This is a joke of a comment. People are not complaining about the hassle they are complaining about paying for the lot. Would you give your kids everything you had so they could buy fags, spend on take away & basically blow, I guess you would say no.

People on this board are more than happy to pay what is required & if they can they are usually happy to pay more to support the kids what they do not see is why should they pay the required amount & then be expected to pay more? Any extra paid should be a bonus to the kids & the PWC.

It isn't the fathers who are willing to pay who annoy me, but the partners of these fathers. Some who go on and on about the money paid to the mother of the child/ren. It makes my blood boil!

Then there are the fathers who won't pay, and the partners who think that is ok that the children suffer because mum doesn't have alot of money. Then they go and get themselves pregnant and want the lot... But thats another story

There is no issue with him paying the CM and his ex has an income before any of her own earnings of £16k per annum. The issue is more that the children have no idea about the value of money.....there is no-one handing us money and we work to earn every penny and would like to see the children learn that work ethic...eg if you want something you work for it but they have the concept that if you want something then you expect someone to give you the money to get it.

There is no reason for the children to 'suffer' just experience the effect of the credit crunch like everyone else. Son signed up for a school trip to Africa that was costing £3k with the idea that the students would fundraise and the school would also chip in, we discussed possible fundraisers - car washing, cake sales etc but he was not interested. He expected mum and dad to pay half each (strangely mum had the money but dad didn't) Dad told him if he was really serious about it he should maybe get contributions instead of Xmas presents. I also offered to match every £1 he personally raised £ for £ ... it cost me nothing and he decided not to go as he couldn't be bothered having to try to raise money.

Anyway he has now had a chat with son and explained that he does not have the perfect life he thinks he has (he has debts and fear of being made reduntant) but doesn't feel that he needs to burden his children with this as they have enough to worry about with school and exams but is happy to sit and answer any questions face to face. (I know mother likes to be 'poor little ole me') Going to stick to saying no - I am sure being without cigarettes does not count as 'suffering'

I have no issues with the children (apart from the foul language they use and the way they talk to their father at times) and due to the debts it is me that pays the Xmas and birthday presents and holidays (without complaint - and without any thanks)
