Keycamp / Eurocamp

Has anyone been to keycamp or eurocamp?
Am thinking of going to one around Lake Garda.
Would you recommend them?
Would you need to hire a car or would an airport transfer be ok?
Can you get trips to venice etc or public transport from the camp, or would you be stuck without a hire car?
How do they compare to appartment self catering accomodation?
Thanks for any help

Never been to Lake Garda but we do keycamp (been about 4 times & going to South of France this year) I think they are brilliant. Usually on great sites & the accomodation is usually a great standard. I hope this is a bit of help...

  • I worked for Keycamp for a season in Holland. I have no personal experience of Lake Garda, but in general i understand that car hire would be a good way of getting around there in good time.. rather than relying on public trnsport.

Euro/Keycamp are both owned by the same company, and I think quite a reliable company. They definately aren't the cheapest in my experience, and you could search for similar companies ('camping europe' in a search engine would do it). They may be able to give you a good deal if you ring and ask.. they may be struggling for holidaymakers from the UK what with the strong Euro at the moment.

Euro/Keycamp offer tents or mobile homes, of varying standards. In Lake Garda i think air con would be good if you could afford it in a mobile. Compared to self catering in other mobile units, or an apartment it would probably not be cheaper, but may give you peace of mind.

Mobile homes/tents i think give you a sense of a bit more freedom/being outdoors.. as in their nature they tend to be in a more outdoor/spacious area. Apartments on the other hand may put you more in the centre of things and give you more home comforts. I think it will depend how much security/peace of mind euro/keycamp would give you, compared to any saving a wider search could offer. Good luck!

we're using Keycamp for the first time this year, we're going to Britanny.
We found the tent were the cheapest accom to thru Keycamp, but obviously you get what you pay for. But we're used to camping in UK so being in a tent isn't a problem for us, might be for others.
We aslo found that it was a similar or cheaper to go Key cmap than it would be to use a static van in UK. It was the ferry fare that cost an arm and a leg. we're using Plymouth-Roscoff, as it means we don't ahve to drive very far in France.
Am sure on the keycamp site you can look and see what attractions are close to the camp.

Cant help anymore than that at the moment other than to suggest looking at reviews on trip advisor.

We've used Eurocamp and Eurocamp Independent (where they do the organisation but you take your own tent). Always well organised and reliable but not as cheap as arranging it yourself. Their tents are well equiped and the sites good. I don't know the Garda site though.

take a look at www.vanansoleil.co.uk too. They took over the Ian Mearns company. http://www.matthewsfrance.co.uk/ is another good one we've used. lots of campsites have their own mobiles which often work out cheaper, especially if you go off season, look here http://www.kawan-villages.com/en/

We've been with Keycamp 4 times and are going with Eurocamp this year. Last year, for the first time, we had decking around our caravan which was a blessing as the weather wasn't as brilliant as in previous years. It meant that we could be outside when it wasn't actually raining, but without getting soggy from the pitch. We've ensured that we have decking again for this year.
