No, but I hear it works a treat at Customs or Immigration to help expedite your wait and any potential problems ;)

Hmmmm been on the receiving end of such sillyness, however the passenger stopped chuckling when I slapped some handcuffs on them, and then on to the search room

Does it work at the airport check-in? ;)

Does it work in Tesco ?
Can you brand names instead of the cut-price saver ones ?
Not giving the cashier £20 though, maybe 50p.

Never heard of this before, but might give it a shot in April in New York. Its definitely a great idea.

I met April in New York and she wanted a lot more than $20:rotfl:

To realised....if it works in Vegas...it's worth a shot in LA for sure! :)

  • The $20 at check in is very heavily publicised on the internet. Check out the Vegas thread and more links are available including list of hotels with ratings on how succesful you may be (based on other travellers experiences).
To the OP - I don't think it's popular in the uk yet, but London may be the exception. I expect plenty of Americans try this in London, as it's so known in the USA, so I'm sure the receptionist will have come across this tipping before. Try it. You've got nothing to lose and you'll only regret not trying it. You never know what kind of room you might have ended up in.....

Edited to say that I've had success many times in Vegas tipping at check in. One room I had had a big jacuzzi bathtub for 2 and a steam room shower. Best $20 we've ever spent for 5 nights in a great room when we booked a bargain basement basic room...... You won't know unless you try.
Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!
