I've got 4 I think.... I've just opened an Easycash account which my wages will be going into and I will be using for most things. But Im keeping my A&L account for anywhere that doesnt take Visa Electron.
I also have a Current Plus with Natwest thats in a managed overdraft at the minute so it doesnt work really, and a Basic Account with Abbey thats overdrawn by a few quid but is still usable. The Current Plus is going to be shut when Im done with the O/D, and I will get round to shutting the Basic at some stage... I dont think I could cope with 10 or 11 different accounts though!!!!!

My partner and I have 6 UK genuine current accounts between us, either single or joint (as well as a multiplicity of 'savers', IASAs, e-savers, and other accounts not strictly 'current'), and 2 in France. The French ones we have to pay for!!

We've an apartment there so it was necessary for regular bill paying etc. Costs seem to vary - we've a upmarket account with Barclays France, called Francesolutions http://www.barclays.fr/siteen/895/7616/banking-france.html
which costs 20 euros/month, but we got a lot of extra services with this when we needed them (like our own french bank manager who happily read through contracts etc for us to check for problems when we were buying).

A friend of mine has an account with one of the regular french banks, can't remember if its credit agricole or BNP Paribas, and he's only paying about
    5euro/month.

  • On here it is abnormal to only have ONE account :)

It was none of her business, the only account she needs to concern herself with is the account held at her bank.

I have three "main" accounts. One joint, one Sole that OH knows about and one Sole that OH doesnt know about :))

On top of that I have several "earning" current accounts, which will get closed as soon as the high interest period ends, by which time hopefully there will be others to take their place.

It can be a bit of a nightmare administering them all but I check my accounts daily and am very digilent with my record keeping.

For some obscure reason, the fact that a smiley was attached to that statement (ignoring the fact it was made at all on a public forum,) leads me to some conclusions.

    They're probably wrong.

    I hope.
