I would look up for when I was wanting to go and get the best prices! I wouldnt be bothered about which airline I went with as long as it got me there and was cheap - if I saved money by having an extra 4 hours somewhere I would do it!Weight Loss - 102lb0

You must be joking! We flew via LAX and it absolutely killed us both. BA / Qantas round the world ticket but first we stopped in SFO for a couple of days. BA flights were good, as usuall, but the Qantas flights were jam packed full and there seemed to be cramped in economy. The only plus side about Qantas was that they had excellent games on the IFE. The other problem is that you will lose a day flying via LAX. For example flight leaves at night on a Sunday and then arrives 2 days later in the early morning due to the international date line. When we got to Auckland we got to the hostel had a quick lunch then went to sleep until the following morning! I dread to think how tired you can be when you go straight there with no stopover.**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI0 -
Emirates are a really good airline, last time i went to NZ it was cheaper (at the time of the booking Oct 2004 flew Nov 2004) to get a round the world ticket and it cost me around 700 now it's 795 though you might get it cheaper. I did that with Virgin then Air New Zealand and it was a great service though Air New Zealand did not have a tv in the back of the seat but that was it otherwise it was firstclass.
I did London - HongKong - Auckland overland Christchurch - LA - London but you dont have to stay in HongKong or LA you can get a connection though i took a few days in each as it breaks the flight plus you get to see something you normally would not!0 -
We flew with Thai when we did LHR->Auckland (via Bangkok and Sydney) a couple of years back and were good.
At the time (2003), they were the cheapest for the dates we wanted and also had a decent amount of legroom in economy (according to the airlinequality web site) (3 inches more than BA for example).
One advantage about flying to NZ from the UK is that any flight you do thereafter is effectively shorthaul!0 -
We flew with Malaysian airlines from Heathrow to kualur lumpur and then Auckland.
We had a stop over at the Pan pacific hotel in kualur lumpur airport - it was fab!!! (although we spent 1/2 an hour going up and down tring to work out how to use the lift! 32 hours with no sleep - what can I say?!)
The service was great. Although the safety video on malaysian airlines is terrifying!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I did go on Thai, great food. Thai have refitted some of their aircraft and now do BKK-AKL direct without hopping via SYDney.
Cathay Pacific have a lot of flights LHR-HKG with also flights HKG-AKLPosts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
