Who would you fly to NZ with?

THis flight search is doing my head in-prices changing daily-even hourly!

Any how we are a family of 2 adults and 2 young children 5 and 7, and we want to go to NZ,flying out the end of Nov, returning the 1st week of Jan.

We want to fly from Manchester to Auckland.

My first choice was Singapore Airlines-went with them before 8 years ago and was impressed. But it looked like it was going to be alot more money,than the others,was a few weeks ago.

However done a search this am and have come up with options below

Singapore Airlines MAN_SING_AKL £3113
Emirates MAN_DUB_MEL AKL £2997
Malaysia MAN_KUL_AKL £2907

Hve looked at Evaair, but they are full coming back-plus would have to get to LHR.

All the flights have a max of a 4 hours connection time, so would be happy with that.

Also is it better to book direct with the airline or through opodo or ebookers etc. Do they all charge credit card surchage?
What about seat req`s and meal req`s?

Have also flown Malaysia with a toddler and was happy with service.

Not wanting any stop overs -just want to get there.

Been told that 1st week in jan is busy for coming back-how long should I wait?

Also the Emirates and Malaysia flights leave the Uk in the evening.

Thanks in advance- I will need this holiday by the time I`ve got these flights booked.

Swizzle, will you be travelling around while you are there (i.e.) camper van/motorhome or are you doing hotels. I've got an excellent deal on a 6 berth if you're interested. We'll be there from 7th Dec-2nd Jan hopefully travelling both islands.

Cheekymole- who did you get the Air NZ flight prices from?

Didn`t really want to go to LHR or go Via LAX- but price must come into it. Plus could be cheaper with Air NZ as we will need an internal flight when we get there.

We are going to stay with family in Hawkes Bay- so let me know if you plan to be there-pm me

We are flying from LHR but have domestic flights from Manchester costing £144 for 3 of us which is cheaper than driving there and parking for 4 weeks. That's with BMI

I have friends who go quite often and they say that via LAX is far better on the body than going east

Is it North Island or South?

Been MAN_LHR_LAX_AKL before with BA/Quantas and did not enjoy it.


Enjoyed MAN_SING_AKL and MAN_KUL_AKL better, seemed to be less messing about.

Hawkes Bay is in North island- Napier is the main place, it`s lovely Art DEco NZ at its best

We'll be doing MAN-LHR-Taipei-AKl

Quite looking forward to a stop in Taiwan. We stopover on the way home and they've booked us a really posh hotel. Can't wait.
Only another 10 months to go!
