OEM would be fine.

Most things
editing pictures viewing them transfering them for camera0 -
There are loads of packages for linux that you can use for that. I've no experience with using the acers version of linux but I hear its preety restrictive what I would do it install something like xubuntu on it and then get the imaging software free from there repositories. It'll cost you nothing to do or try.0

Unless you really cant get used to linux and need to change it - the best and cheaper option is to find free software that works well with linux theres loads of free photo editing software out there.
Unless youve already done it before changing from linux to xp could be tricky finding all the drivers and such - but dont let me put you off it can be done.Save saynoto0870.com in your favorites, and stop giving companies more £££ dialling 0870 numbers when you can dial freephones or cheaper alternatives.:j0 -
Give that page says
This software is not intended for purchase or installation by consumers. Click here for licence details and system builder obligations by manufacturer.
The answer is no not really. It's supposed to be installed by a registered system builder and supplied with a new PC. If it's not you don't have a valid licence.
In reality it should be fine as long as you can install it yourself as you'll ge no support from Microsoft other than the web based stuff.0 -
The difference between OEM and Retail is a box, manuals and support direct from microsoft. The other difference is about £100.
Both versions Home and Profesional are available retail and OEM, buying either can be a little difficult retail more than OEM.
Now the licenceing buying OEM and installing it on a PC brakes the licence agreement. OEM software should only be purchased with hardware, you buy a new xp pc from dell it comes with an OEM licence, Dell are responsible for the support to windows problems not microsoft. some resellers will allow you to buy OEM software with hother hardware like a hard drive to get round the licence brake but I have never heard of a problem come of not buying hardware at the same time. Some resellers will ask for proof that you have bought hardware in the last few weeks as you have the Acer aspire one then you have so it should cover you.
OEM licences are not transferable, it dies witht he PC it came with Retail licences can be transfered from PC to PC.
And I would max the memory out on the aspire one, its only about £10 from crucial for 1GB and it will run XP better than it would with only 512mb, Windows xp will run reasonably happily on 512mb but witht he cpu in there more would be better.0
