Blackpool help needed

Just wondering if anybody had any suggestions for cheap places to stay in blackpool from 13th - 17th April for 3 adults and 1 child. Possibly self-catering to try and keep cost down as much as possible. Looked at few places pretty central in blackpool but one thing I have found is they don't have parking. Is there any decent car parks (ie safe) in Blackpool that has overnight parking that don't charge a fortune. I know there is a big car park near the football stadium but not sure of cost / safeness. Already priced Travellodge but they were quoting £50 a night plus parking but am trying to get something cheaper. Also found a half-decent self-catering place on the Prom near Rigby Rd for £175 but it has no parking and the best the owner could suggest is to try parking on one of the side streets - (my parkings not the best anyway so bit worried about this) and not sure how busy/costly this would be .Anybody able to suggest anything at all. thanks

Believe it (or not) the Hilton isn't bad, firstly cos they don't charge for children and secondly you can pay in Tesco club card vouchers. I used mine last year. We had 3 nights paid approx £76.00 in tesco cc and an extra 50.00 on top.
they have free parking and a pool and a great breakfast!
But if ever I stray from the path I follow
Take me down to the English Channel
Throw me in where the water is shallow And then drag me on back to shore!
'Cos love is free and life is cheap As long as I've got me a place to sleep
Clothes on my back and some food to eat I can't ask for anything more

Thank you both for your suggestions. Unfortunately, they all work out too pricey. We had hoped to go to Pontins but their prices seem to be sky high this year for some reason - been trying to find codes that work but been unsuccessful so far. Anybody , got any info on best/cheapest/safest places to park in Blackpool (especially when its left unattended overnight) ?Thanks again

    Hi ,
As well as the questions above, has anybody any suggestions as where to go for swiming ie is there a council pool in Blackpool - can't seem tofind one as the Sandcastle seems to cost an arm and a leg. Thanks,

If you are thinking of staying in central blackpool there is virtually nowhere you can park for free. Park even slightly dodgy (say slightly on the pavement) and you will be rewarded with a ticket, nothing escapes the parking wardens. I think the big car park near coral island is seven pounds per 24hrs.
You used to be able to use tesco points at the sandcastle. Else get a 'whats on ' guide and you can save 10%. (it still was more than £20 for two adults and one kids though)
Queens hotel (south shore ish) has parking and a swimming pool with sauna jacuzzi etc. It might not work out that much more expensive than if you pay for parking and swimming seperately.
  • has Pontins at Blackpool closed yet? something in the paper about the land wanted for housing..even though it`s near the airport.

Found the Palatine Leisure Centre on St Anne's Rd which has very affordable swimming ie 1 adult and 1 child for less than £6 for non-residents - much cheaper than the Sandcastle approx £20 although a lot more basic - still it will do us.
Still need advice about the parking - probably sounds like a daft question - if you pay to park in one of the big car parks for 4 days , does this mean you have to keep the car in the car park the whole time or can you come and go - and are they fairly safe to park at overnight - looking to park at one probably fairly Central Blackpool.

Did you decide where you're staying yet? If someone doesn't mind walking then you could park out of the centre of town on a residential road for free.

You could use my visitor pass if my family member still has it! Only valid in a few roads though and if you go another couple of hundred yards out of town from there, the parking restrictions stop anyway.
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
