If this is genuine then the bank should investigate as it may be identity theft.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

What transaction is the £400 for?0

For starters, write to them, stating your assertion that the account was not opened by you, expressing concern as to how this could have happened, and inviting them to provide documentary evidence within a set time period.0

Its not identity theft the bank opened it for me and it has never been used but there was a monthly charge and as I never new about it it has amounted to £400.00, the bank is in the wrong and they know that but I wanted to know how this affects my credit rating ect.0

Sorry, you said in your original post that you did not open the account, so you need to challenge the bank to provide evidence to the contrary. Do this before worrying about any charges - assuming you are correct, you will owe them nothing (and your credit rating will be unaffected)0 -
I have just got off the phone with the bank and they are going to reverse all the charges and they admitted they were at fault.. but now I am worried bout my credit rating? Also is this not plain illegal?0
-
Illegal? No.
Very poor service? Absolutely.
Seek compensation from the bank, and challenge them to explain how it happened in the first place - they clearly need to review their administrative processes.
I doubt this will have affected your credit rating, but you can of course request a copy from one of the usual agencies (Experian etc). If you have to pay for this, invite the bank to reimburse you.0 -

Absolutely. You need to report this immediately.
However, as the criminal party is RBS you need to contact a police force in Scotland.
They will then send a specialist squad to arrest everyone in the branch that you dealt with.
I would not be surprised if they get life.0
