  • Just tried two cameras and a scanner and the hardware wizard fails to install the software.

The problem seems to be with the wizard - any solutions.

Its possible that you could do a system restore to a previous backup in assecories/system tools system restore.

Unless it been broken for a while.

Did you try a usb driver that came with the camera just in case?
  • Tried to the restore option but still the same. The camera does not need a driver according to the instructions.

The prolem seems to be with the wizard.

Thanks for all your help - I think I'll have to get someone to look at it.

I have a panasconic camera 4mbp and doesnt need driver too. Just thought it was worth the chance.

Have you got any hardware showing a yellow asterix in the control panel/system/devcie manager/hardware
  • Just got to make sure you have actually got the camera turned on when you are plugging it in. Don't mean to insult your intelligence, but I see a fair few people wondering why things won't work and it's because they aren't switched on......

Secondly, has the camera got a 'link to computer' type mode? Some camera's have to be switched to a certain setting to enable them to talk to the computer. On my Sony camera it has a small picutre of a computer on it, and an arrow pointing out of it. Hope this makes sense, as it's quite early on a sunday morning...

However, as you have tried 2 camera's and a scanner I'm presuming it's not either of these. Have you got a USB mouse or something that you could put into the USB ports you are using to check that they work......
  • Uninstall the software and then rebbot the pc, plus in the camera adn wait till it says found new hardware adn then install software.
Also you may need to install usb2 drivers as windows xp dosent come with the driver for usb2 i think. thats incase your using the usb2 port?
i connected my camera to the usb port and then instaled the software when it asked for it.
I'm not poor i'm just skint
