Thanks a lot everyone for your help and advice.
I think I will have to wait and see. I can confim that the traffic warden did not have any yellow band and never took any photograph. He was definitely looked warden from council rather than police.
I may have to come back and seek advice if I get something through post.

In parts of London they don't need to slap a ticket on the car, cctv is sufficient to send a penalty notice.
You took a chance, and parked illegally. You got caught. That's life.
You may get away with it, that too is part of the gamble.
The best "moneysaving" tip is to pay it straight away if you get a ticket, as it will "save" you £50 (costs £100 if you leave it, £150 if you leave it too long).
No points involved, unless you parked on a zig zag.0
