Can you tell me about kwiksave? I'm trying to find the best place to shop for bargains. What are your experiences? Where is it best to shop?

I always think that kwiksave sell branded items cheaper but you can save more by using a supermarket that has more choice and buying the value rangesI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. I use Kwik Save a LOT, on account of it being a 2 minute walk from my house, and Asda and Sainsburys being 15 mins away
Apart from the special offers (more of which later), they seem to be no more cheaper or expensive than any other supermarket. Their lowest-priced stuff is roughly the same price and quality as any supermarket Value brand.
But when they have Special Offers, you can really clean up. Whereas Asda, Sainsburys, Tesco etc. seem to knock 10-30p off and call it an "offer", KS go to town:

The only problem I have with KS is their offers seem to be quite random. Some can last months, some can last 3 days, so you never know what you're going to find.
Also, they don't advertise some of their better deals well enough (maybe so they don't all get snapped up). For example: Cheerios are half-price at the mo, no mention of it on their website or in the free leaflets you get with the local paper. 8 x Dry Blackthorn is half-price too, again no mention.
Speaking of which, they do some brilliant deals on wine and beer, have a look at the Kronenbourg offer.
I find it's more a case of seeing whats on offer when you turn up at the store and being pleasantly surprised, rather than shopping there for the sole purpose of getting a bargain.0 -
Some things of note : tea and coffee are cheaper in Sainsbury's than kwik save, if you have a cool trader nearby they are always cheaper for cereal, and for milk and bread you cant beat farmfoods, although by all account farmfoods are rare. Maybe its just the staff at our local kwik save , but often special offers are left advertised long after they should have finished and they never argue when giving you a refund (often the whole amount) if you buy the product and get charged full amount.0

When I've shopped in Kwiksave I've always found their choice to be very limited compared to Asda where I usually shop. The last time I shopped there I spent £30 on only half of what I wanted, popped into Iceland to try and finish the shop and spent another £10 but still hadn't completed my list! I finally went to Asda and finished my shopping for another £10 or so. My weekly shopping budget of £30-40 had been blown and I wasn't happy with most of what I had bought! I rarely shop there, but sometimes I pop in just to see whats on offer or reduced but I'd never do my main shop there now!Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0

I used to use shoprite, we could get most of what we wanted from there...... they changed their name several times and are now owned by sSmerfield....... I find them expensive in comparison with Tesco and not too keen on what they sell.

We use Kwik Safe weekly as it's our nearest large supermarket, (10 miles away).
The isles are narrow, shelf stackers clog the shopping aisles with large crates of products. There are always essential supplies that are out of stock, even bread, on occasion! The choice is narrow and you have to wait at the check out for ages.
Having said that, there are some really good offers, Bernard Matthews turkey rolls at half-price recently, Walkers crisps at knock-down prices etc.
Our local store is eventually going to be a Summerfield and currently resembles a war zone, on occasion! Neither of us enjoy the weekly shopping trip and we can get round within 20 minutes when turbo-charged.
That's the main reason we go there0 -
i quite like kwik save.... i have 2 within 5 minutes walk of me... i can get loads of decent reduced items and i find the quality of their "simply" range equal to tesco value/asda smartprice. My mum does her whole main grocery shop there and has done for aslong as i can remember. Granted i dont do MY whole shop there... i pick up certain bits from sainsburys (wider choice), iceland (cheaper for some items) and the local greengrocer etc. But for a basics shop i find its good.0

Kwiksave is near where I live, Asda near where I work. It's a small Kwiksave, always plenty of leaflets, and I usually only go there for offers, which are generally quite good (for the things I want anyhow). My local Asda take coupons eventhough I haven't bought the actual items so sometimes I'll pick up a Kwiksave leaflet to price-match at Asda and get some more money off from coupons0

I use to work for Kwik Save, and they dont advertise as their budget isnt as high as other supermarkets eg Somerfield, so they rely on the adverts in the national papers and the leaflets which are inserted inside some papers to bring people in to buy other offers which arent advertised in papers, other than that they also rely on word of mouth.
Also, when going to other Kwik Saves in different areas when staying over with friends, I've noticed that some offers in my local arent in theirs and found out its because sometimes some stores get sent too much of something so therefore run their local promotions.0
