Orange Network Problems

I've been having problems with Orange since last May over my reception problems.

Firstly last May I started having problems where I was receiving messages hurs late and having problems sending messages and making calls. This went on for a month or two and I was told that it was due to a mast being turned off (long story)

A few months went by and I didn't seem to be having anywhere near as much problems as I did. I foolishly renewed my contract and got a great new deal because I threatened to leave in Nov. Dec last year my problems return and when I report them to Orange I go through there step by step resolving guide and of course none of the problems show up. At the end of Dec I sent a letter to Head Office which got no response at all.

After a few more calls I decided this week I would decide to try and leave. They said I can't end my contract even though i'm having signal problems and I would have to pay up if I wanted to leave. He did say though that maybe their wireless broadband would help boost the signal. I said yes because I wouldn't mind a wireless one anyway as I get their free home broadband.. He looked into it and said unfortunately it would cost £17 a month extra which obviously I'm not willing to pay.

I said that surely I should get it free because I'm having signal problems and he said no so after a bit of a dispute I gave up and said I'd look at my options. So here I am. I am going to try to push it more but does anyone know anywhere or who I can contact to progress this further up the chain

Thanks

Lots of signal problems on here today !
No network will guarantee coverage in buildings. Some modern blocks act like a Faraday cage and block the signal or something new gets built between you and the mast and your signal vanishes!
Have you checked your sim in another phone to make sure the phones not the problem ?
Do you ever switch off the phone ? Sometimes if their on all the time the signal drops (no idea why, it just does). If you haven't switched it off for a while, with it on take the battery off for a minute of so and see if that make a difference.
As to messages taking a while to arrive, I think the delivery time quoted is still 24 hours. The network tries to send it, if it can't it tries again in a few minutes if it fails again the retry gap gets longer and longer each time.
  • I too have been having problems with Orange since Christmas.
I get notices of failed texts and voice message alerts two weeks later!
I very rarely had failed texts before this. Now they are fairly regular - and it doesn't help to only find out two weeks later.

I am seriously looking into other networks now!

The failed text alert is when your network can't get the text to the network the other phone on.
You can set the time limit on you phone, I'd suggest changing it to 24 hours and get the person you're sending to, to query it with their network.
