MSE doing its bit to prop up the housing market corpse

Keeping pigs is remarkably easy if you have the space. Had a couple of Gloucester Old Spots this year and it was no more work than the geese. Worked out at £200 per pig including feed, abattoir and butcher costs and they taste great. I've still got two big hams hanging up and a freezer full of tasty tasty pig.0

It's free tickets to an event, that lots of people go to and would otherwise pay for. And as it happens the theme this year is far more about renovating existing property.
Reading this does make me despair a bit. We managed to get some free tickets and gave them out. Actually they've been hugely popular and the number's been extended.
Is it really worth such negative sentiment?
And as for "Good market targetting though ... give away 10,000 free tickets to a site frequented by over-spenders with piles of credit cards" this is innaccuate, offensive in tone and if it is genuinely representative of what you think of the site. Surely its best you stop using it.

If you feel despair - just pop over to the Mortgage Free wannabe board - we are much more cheerful and optimistic:money:
This board seems to have been taken over/ highly influenced by the housepricecrash.co.uk website. Largely, these posters are negative, run down Britain types. They hate hearing anything positive about the housing market as they are suffering from "confirmation bias" and only want to hear negative news that reinforces their decision not to buy a house. So the fact that posters might be interested in "The Ideal Home Exhibition" is a threat to them imho :-)0 -
If I lived closer I'd have a ticket. I should imagine they will be busting a gut for the business at this time whatever they are selling. Good luck to them.I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left. :rolleyes:0

I'll add some balance to this. Overall, this board is more benign than you might think. The majority of threads discuss interesting topics loosely linked to house prices and more often than not generate intelligent and respectful debate. For an open, unmoderated forum, that is incredible.
If people aire on the site of doom and gloom, it's for good reason at the moment. Far from taking sides in a partisan manner, I have found that the vast majority base their position on the factual information of the time. Reasoned arguments based on credible information, not emotive comments designed to be inflammatory. When the housing market looks cheery again, most of these 'run down britain' types will switch to being positive about house prices.0 -
Typical, first time somebody picks on me and it's Martin.

I don't know/go to London at all, for anything.
I've always been a full-time worker and days off would be far too precious to travel hundreds of miles to look at stuff I couldn't afford.0
