Up-date: after two days of hanging on the phone i finally managed to speak to someone today. I asked why my cheque had not been sent out as I had returned my acceptance form to them on 2nd March. I was told that until they send a new contract out to me the cheque will NOT be released.

I pointed out that since i accepted their claim they have taken another £100 in ppi from me. The operator said that I will only get a cheque for the original amount that was offered and that any overpayments will be eventually repaid. I asked that if the cheque amount is for the original amount that i have already accepted then why cant it be sent, they could only re-iterate that i have to receive the new contract first before they will release the cheque.

They said that they would get the contract issued to me as soon as they could but couldnt give me a guarantee of when. I received no apologies or excuses.

I am soooooooooooooooo fed up with the whole thing now :o(

    Hi there

I take it you've not cancelled the PPI then?

If you have I don't think they should have taken another payment from you and I would contact the Financial ombudsman on this one to be honest, if this was mis sold they should refund the whole lot of it, plus interest, even if this was an offer of goodwill, in my opinion they should not have taken another payment.
Ring the FOS on this one if I were you;)
    Good luck.

    Hiya hun

A&L seems to be one of those companies who are taking longer to pay out, and possibly because of all the investigations they have ongoing with these complaints.

However, you could write to them if you wanted to and give them a timescale, or tell them you will consider taking further action.

This worked for me, I gave the company (another company) 14 days or I would consider taking this further, they paid out before the 14 days were up, sometimes this works.

I do hope you hear soon hun, good luck and keep us posted.;)

    Hi Di

I tried writing to A&L giving them 14 days to reply before I took 'further action' - but it made no difference and I still haven't had any money back from them that was promised in their letter to me back in February. What's the point in the FSA ordering them to pay back the PPI wrongly forced on people, when they don't monitor it to check that they are actually doing so?

The letter from A&L was dated 24 February. I returned the form accepting the settlement offered and I've not received nor heard anything from them since. I've phoned twice and written. So I suppose that's it.
